The joys of my job( Not)😩
Please don’t leave your dog to get in such a state that it’s nearly impossible to shave them off!!!
The matts are that tight around her skin it’s solid, it’s not a nice experience for the dog to have this done .. and to be quite honest I don’t like shaving the lot off especially this time of year when it’s still freezing temperatures
She was one happy dog after the tonne weight was lifted off her shoulders

BEWARE MICROCHIP SCAM

We wanted to make you aware of a current scam to which one of our clients has unfortunately fallen victim. False microchip companies are contacting owners to advise them their pet’s microchips are about to expire and that owners need to pay a fee to reactivate. Do not pay. If in any doubt about your pet’s microchip status please contact the company your pet’s microchip is registered with directly. We are happy to scan your pet and confirm who holds their microchip registration details if you are unsure.

❄️ How cold is too cold for your dog to go on a walk? ❄️

Just like heatwaves, cold weather can also be dangerous to walk dogs in, with your canine friend at risk of developing hypothermia, frostbite and cracked pads from being outside in freezing temperatures. ⛄️

Guidance can also vary depending on the size, age and breed of your dog, with Siberian Huskies able to survive in sub-zero temperatures whereas your chihuahua or greyhound would definitely struggle.

For smaller breeds, we recommend that owners of smaller and medium sized dogs practice caution when walking their pooch once the mercury hits 4°C and to limit outdoor excursions to toilet breaks and necessary outings once it gets past -1°C.

Larger dogs can typically manage in colder temperatures, with colder than -4°C being the point in which owners need to become cautious about their pet.

Owners of older dogs and breeds which have thinner coats should also be extra-cautious.

Dog coats and booties for the paws can also help with walking during winter weather.

How to spot signs of hypothermia in dogs! 🥰

Being able to spot the signs of hypothermia in dogs is also important during the colder months.

The hypothermia warning signs to look out for in dogs are:
* Drowsiness, confusion and clumsiness
* Pale gums
* Extensive shivering
* Loss of consciousness

When it come to treating a pet with suspected hypothermia, the charity advises that owners should dry off a pet with a wet coat as soon as possible, warming them up with blankets and slowly increasing the temperature of your house gradually.

Mild hypothermia can typically be treated at home, however, we recommend if your dog’s body temperature falls below 28°C, then you should seek veterinary support.
