Hi all,
Having just returned from our family holiday to Tenerife, I thought it might be helpful to share our experience of international travel during these crazy times.
Before we left there were a few things we had to do in readiness to travel. We did not need to take any Covid tests before departing as we are both fully vaccinated and our boys are under-12. We did have to complete a Spanish locator form, which was straightforward to do. It asked for flight details, where we we’re staying, and our vaccination details. These could either be manually entered, or you could download a copy from NHS Online and upload your certificate. Once completed a form with a QR code was emailed to us. We also had to order tests for when we returned home, but this is no longer required from next week.
Upon arrival at Cardiff Airport, face masks had to be worn. We had to show our Covid passes and our Spanish locator forms at check-in for the flight. After this everything else at the airport and flight was as normal.
At Tenerife airport we went through customs as normal, and then had to present our Spanish locator
forms. A quick scan of our QR codes and we were on our way.
We then spent 11 nights enjoying some wonderful winter sun!
In preparation for our return trip, 48hrs before we had to complete the UK locator form. This was pretty straightforward, but is being simplified even further next week.
At the airport, we had to present our UK locator forms - we did this on via the email on our phones. Everything else was as normal for the flight, and upon return to Cardiff we had to show our locator form again to customs.
We found the process very easy, very quick and very straightforward. The preparation of all the paperwork took less than 30 minutes, and the airport checks added seconds to the overall process.
I hope this helps to shine some light on what’s required for international travel these days, and gives you confidence to go ahead and book a foreign holiday this year.
