🐸🐸We’ve all heard the saying “if you kiss enough frogs eventually you’ll find a prince”right! 👑🤴👑
That’s exactly what Winnie and Flo thought they’d try out on the walk in the woods on Monday.
However instead of kissing they decided to try and lick the poor frog and guess what, it didn’t taste very good. 😩
There is actually a serious side to this story.
I noticed Flo was fussing in the undergrowth and started to shake her head when I called her away Winnie decided she needed to see what was going on too. Before I could get to the spot where the poor frog had found to hide in it looked like Winnie had tried to lick it too.
Frogs/toads have a nasty secretion on them that can be toxic to animals.
Both dogs had started to foam at the mouth with Flo salivating quite badly. Thankfully after being on a first aid for dogs course I quickly took action and marched the dogs back to the van and rinsed both of their mouths out with lots of water. I also wiped around the gums with an antiseptic wipe. They both looked much better.
I kept a close eye on them that afternoon and thankfully both seemed fine.
I’m not sure what the moral of the story is here 😆 but just wanted to share our experience as it may help someone one day. You never know what you might encounter out on a dog walk.
Thank you for the flowers Winnie and Flo. 🐶🐶
