Let's talk dog walking etiquette:
Everyone meet lovely Luna! I was walking this beautiful girl yesterday. She is nervous and reactive if approached.
3 minutes into our walk, we meet an owner with an oflead dog bounding up to her. So, I state "she's nervous and reactive- please could you hold or lead your dog, until we move past?"
This was met with a response of "Mine is friendly."
"Okay well luna is anxious. Please get your dog."
"No he's absolutely fine, she will be fine.
The dog then proceeds to try and sniff her with me gaurding her. She reacts and the owner walks off. Luna is now ears back and checking behind her, for the rest of her walk- where typically she will walk past any dog and remain relaxed, if she isn't approached.
I appreciate you can't always catch your dog quick enough and this is met with apologies. But, a dog like Luna shouldn't have to walk on edge every time she goes out 🙏
