Good afternoon everyone, apologies for being quiet on here... although I have been working as normal I haven't found the time to keep the page active.

Going to be honest, really felt like I've been juggling life so much over the last couple years and although I feel very blessed to be where I am in life, it's hard to keep up with everything I need to do in a day. The zero updates on here has been a result of that. I will do my very best to post daily. Just wanted you all to know I am still here and the dogs are having the same fun. πŸ™‚

I hope everyone has had an amazing couple of days! πŸŽ…πŸŽπŸŽ„πŸ»
I for one have been utterly spoilt by customers, family and friends and feeling very lucky to have such awesome people in my life.

So thank you to everyone who has kindly given cards, gifts and money, not just for me but my family too. ❀️ So so grateful.

I have been trying to make a short video with all of this year's regular dogs but no joy! πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ€£ So I'll just upload the pictures instead, all the dogs got a little festive. πŸŽ…πŸ«Ž

Alongside keeping the peace amongst dogs, this is the reason I do not throw a ball. I'll never preach it on to anyone, but be aware this is 99% of the outcome.

Balls and dogs… πŸ₯Ž

Recently at a wedding someone was asking me for some advice for their dog after his recent surgery. He had fractured a bone in his forelimb and they said β€œit happened chasing a ball, if we had known it wasn’t a good thing to do we wouldn’t have done it”.

We hear this so often; everyone we see loves their dog and wants the best for them, but ball throwing and dogs have become synonymous in people’s minds and there is a strong culture for it - it looks so fun, it tires them out quickly and we think it is keeping them fit.

But what is actually happening?

Repeatedly stimulating their prey drive keeps them wired and overstimulated.
Motivated to carry on chasing, they work way past muscle fatigue, and high adrenaline means they won’t be aware of pain at the time.

What is chasing?

Fast uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration; twisting and turning without thinking about their bodies.

What happens to humans who do this in sport in a much more controlled way?

ACL injuries, Achilles ruptures, fractures… no surprise then that this is similar to what we see in our canine clinic.
Help us to help your dogs and spread the word.

We will be following this up with some ideas of fun ball related activities for your dog which aren’t repetitive chasing πŸ™Œ
