Absent dad Gylly (from Magnavalleys show line of KC labradors) is over the moon at the news of his latest siring. Saphie is the beautiful daughter of Indie's first litter who stayed with us and has grown up with her mum by her side. She will be 3 years old when she meets up again with the carefully selected stud dog 'Gylly' in October 2025 to mate. It's so important to meet up and see the potentia
l stud dog with the mum-to-be before the hormones kick in. I can honestly say that Gylly is a bundle of friendliness, both towards me and Saphie in the same way that 'Blue' was towards myself and Indie when we first met. Furthermore, I and the stud dog owners had identical principles about breeding - check the health scores. the KC breeding history, the temperaments of the dogs whilst subtly making sure we were putting the welfare of our own dogs (and any puppies that come along during the process) as the priority. Let's talk about temperaments. Saphie doesn't bark at the door or when she sees other people and dogs walking past the window. She really is incredibly chilled and relaxed and is absolutely fine being left for 4 to 5 hours at a time. She has never had a fight or found herself in any kind of trouble with other dogs. She has a strong personality who is very up for robust play but if a Dachshund snaps at her she's quick to walk away! Gylly was inside when we arrived in the garden for our pre-mating meet up. He was very excited to meet a potential mate at the peak of fertility but alas, he was somewhat disappointed when he joined us in the garden to find Saphie was not laden with mating hormones! Nonetheless, he gave her plenty of kisses and was delighted to meet her with a real energy. And he was the same with me, snuggling in for some love and attention, a really happy and gentle soul who was just over the moon to meet new dogs and new people. Just like her mum Indie, Saphie carries the most beautiful traits both inside and out and that's why I decided to breed with her. As a third time dog breeder, I've done all the recommended Kennel Club DNA tests (all clear), BVA eye test (clear) and hip and elbow tests. Her hip scores are 6/6 and elbows 0/0. I've also been meticulous in choosing the right stud dog (and owner) to ensure all of his traits are equally as superb as Saphie's.
