Jinx, our mature male Guatemalan Tiger Rump (Davus pentaloris) has officially hit 4.5 years old!

Males of this species typically live between 2.5-4 years and most end up passing a year after maturing, so he’s doing very well for his age. You can see how quickly he’s grown in that time.

I expected him to start slowing down shortly after maturing, but he still takes down mealworms and attacks the water dish like it owes him money 💪

Let’s keep everything crossed that he can make it to 5!

Introducing our new range of 3D Printed Feeding Port Holes! 🤩

Available in 8 colours, these port holes add an extra smaller point of entry without having to open the whole door. These are ideal for enclosures housing fast, venomous species 🕷️

Last week we dropped a hint we’d been working on something big for a customer, and here it is!

This is our 30x30x45cm Arboreal Enclosure with a fitted feeding port, printed by us 🤩

This lovely customer wanted something spacious for their large Huntsman Spider, but also wanted security during feeding. If you know huntsman’s, you know they can teleport!

Key features-

✨Front, downwards opening door for security and strength
✨Feeding port at the top adds another point of entry without opening the whole door
✨Excellent cross ventilation
✨4mm thick acrylic with warp resistant polycarbonate door
✨Sent pre-constructed and watertight so can be used straight away unlike flat-pack

We hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend and are making the most of the sunshine before great British weather returns 🥲

We stumbled across these two beauties at Burrator, Dartmoor over the bank holiday ☀️

An oil, or blister beetle (likely either M. proscarabaeus or M. violaceus), whose larvae are nest parasites of solitary mining bees. They can also release an oily fluid from their legs when threatened which is able to blister human skin, hence their name!

The second find was quite unexpected- a newt 🦎
Maybe a young Palmate or Smooth newt, but amphibians really aren’t our area of expertise so not a clue 😅

We opted for Greencast coloured gloss-finish panels which are made from 100% acrylic ♻️ and are just as strong as our standard enclosures 💪

These three Black Beauty stick insects were so content under their bark, that they wouldn’t budge even when I removed it for a tank refresh 🌿

Gave me a good chance to get some pics as it’s usually a challenge with these 😅

There’s two juveniles available on the website looking for new homes 🏡

If you already keep these and don’t use bark pieces, try adding a few- your stick insects would greatly appreciate it!
