Yesterday evening we said goodbye to dear little lily. She had been getting steadily weaker since she arrived and the contrast between her and Daffodil become ever more apparent. We don’t know exactly why - it may have been related to her not getting enough, or any, colostrum at birth or something else. Despite best efforts to change the direction of the tide for her she reached a point yesterday where she would no longer even drink. I took her out to be in a patch of thick green grass where she sat herself down and at that point I knew she had had enough. She passed peacefully with her Daffodil, Gemmi and me by her side.

She was with us for just ten days and in that short time showed us so much - melting hearts and calling in peace, gentleness and trust - how we waste ourselves, our lives and potential by not seeing these gentle souls as anything other than divine.

We’ve just taken in two very young lambs who had been left behind in a field, they would have surely died - but luckily they were found - and while their story has a hopeful outcome, it’s only the tip of the iceberg. Countless farmed animals are in desperate need yet there simply aren’t enough sanctuaries to take them in. As a result, only a tiny fraction of those needing a safe home ever get the chance to be rescued and live out their lives in peace.

We have another big thank you to send out there - this time it’s for sisters Joanie and Sapphire who are cycling the width of Scotland from coast to coast to raise money for the animals - you can sponsor the girls by following the link in our bio.

There is such a beautiful human community coming together around the sanctuary - from physical volunteers to monthly and one off donors to morale support from comments and messages to individual fundraising from birthday campaigns, running marathons and now a cycling challenge.
