It’s easy to get caught up in the little things when working with your dog. Rather than focus on the negatives let’s concentrate on the positives.

👇🏻 What’s went well this week with you and your dog - no matter how big or small??

Mine is that Lenny’s allergies appear to have been under control for a whole month now 🙌🏻

For today’s I’m celebrating this darling boy.

We recently completed a block of sessions largely at unionsquareaberdeen

He and his human nailed it 🥰 from the first session which was his first time in a shopping centre to the last where he spent plenty of time relaxing while his human browsed.

One more block of sessions to go and they’ll be taking their Public Access Test with PAWS Therapy & Assistance Dog Training

Did you know I offer virtual sessions?

These are perfect for;

🐾 People who don’t live in the Aberdeenshire area. I can work with you wherever you live in the world.

🐾 People who perhaps feel too anxious with face to face sessions. This can be a fab way of helping the human element feel more relaxed.

🐾 Dogs that have severe human reactivity. Virtual sessions can be a brilliant way to begin behaviour modification.

If location has been the thing stopping you from getting in touch - drop me a message today and let’s get you started.

My next is to set you and your dog a challenge.

Having something you’re working towards together can give you a sense of purpose. Then when your goal is achieved a sense of accomplishment.
Remember to keep it SMART;

S - Specific. Be clear on what your goal is.
M - Measurable. How long for? Or how many?
A - Achievable. Can you and your dog physically and/or mentally manage the goal in the time frame.
R - Realistic. Eg your reactive dog is unlikely to be able to walk past 29 dogs without reacting in a week of training. They might manage 1-2 though.
T - Time Bound. Set yourself a deadline. 1-2 weeks is usually reasonable for simpler goals.

🐾 Maybe you’ve a young pup so it can be something like sit or toilet training.

🐾 Perhaps you’ve an adolescent dog so it can be something like settle or staying engaged with an enrichment activity for longer than 30secs

🐾 A new rescue, you could teach them their new name.

🐾 An adult dog, a new trick or skill. Maybe it’s adding the difficulty on a skill they already know. Eg from sit, to sit on a tree stump.

🐾 A senior dog, who doesn’t fully accept they’re not as agile as they used to be - teach them how to use a ramp to get in the car/on the sofa etc

As always, the biggest goal should be to have fun. Even serious training shouldn’t be dull for you and your dog 🥰🐾

Double the trouble, but double the fun 🥰

This pair of siblings have joined me for a 1:1 puppy program.

So far we’ve worked on;

🐾 Loose Lead Walking

🐾 Recall

🐾 Focus on their human

🐾 Leave It

🐾 Practicing Calmness

07/06/2026

It’s hard practicing recall with Len cause he’s learned being close to me is where the good stuff is at. If I truly want to get some practice in we use a toy, stick or food to create distance so I can then give the cue
