With the hot weather forecast next week, I just wanted to update everyone on a few changes I’ll be making to keep all dogs safe and comfortable. ☀️🐾

I will be starting earlier than normal to accommodate the heat so normal walk times may vary slightly throughout the week. If you’re home in the mornings, I’ll aim to do your dog’s walk earlier in the day before temperatures get too high.

Group walks will take place in shaded, wooded areas with plenty of access to water and any afternoon solo walks will be changed to home visits instead so dogs can stay cool and comfortable while still getting company, toilet breaks, enrichment and care.

Your dogs’ safety and wellbeing will always be my priority, and in these temperatures I feel it’s far more important to keep them safe than to push a walk in unsafe heat.

Thanks so much for your understanding 💛 🐶

⚠️ HOT WEATHER DOG WARNING ⚠️ Cold water shock can happen to dogs too 🐶🌊

When dogs suddenly leap into cold lakes, rivers or the sea, especially in this hot weather, the shock can trigger:
• gasping
• panic
• muscle cramping
• breathing difficulties
• hypothermia

This is often caused by dogs charging full-speed into water after balls or sticks.

Help keep them safe:
🐾 Let them enter slowly
🐾 Allow time to acclimatise
🐾 Use a lead near water if needed
🐾 Avoid repetitive ball throwing into cold water
🐾 Watch for currents & deep water

If it happens:
➡️ Stay calm
➡️ Call them gently back to shore
➡️ Warm and dry them gradually
➡️ Contact a vet urgently if they collapse, struggle breathing, seem weak or confused

And please remember — don’t put yourself at risk entering the water. Many owners get into difficulty trying to rescue pets.

Slow entry. Cool heads. Safe dogs. ❤️
