Friday August 1st
Working Test Preparation days AV Spaniel‘s.
0900-1300hrs Max 8 handlers (2nd dog welcome) £30.00
Format two dogs running together. The retrieves will be on par with the ability of the dog, and if an open standard dog is used, the retrieve will be more testing. Will include water retrieves.
Pistol, blanks, and dummy launcher will be used.
I will limit the mornings to 8 handlers. 2nd dogs welcome.
Tea, coffee, water, biscuits, and cake included, stop for a break and swap dogs.
Sunday August 3rd
Beating/Picking up Workshop AV Spaniels & Retrievers.
0900-1300hrs Max 6 handlers (2nd dog welcome) £50.00
Explaining the role of the be**er and picker-uppers on a traditional walked up shoot day, etiquette, shoot day attire, what to expect, what to take on the day, who’s who shoot captain, gamekeeper, stoppers, flags, sticks, noise or no noise, small family/farm shoots to commercial shoots with loaders and double guns, etc. Q&A’s
Moving onto scenarios with spaniels hunting a beat in a ‘straight’ line, flushes simulated and dummies or launcher to mimic fallen game.
Retrievers will be used to sweep the drive after, and runners sent for with the launchers etc.
Suitable for novice dogs & open dogs, novice handlers who may just about to enter their first season in the field. Ideally dogs will be steady to the flush and have heard gunshot, but not essential.
Grass, bramble, legume cover mix, cover crop, ditches, jumps, and banks.
Tea, coffee, water, biscuits, and cake included, stop for a break and swap dogs.
Puppy Group. Spaniels & Retrievers.
1300-1400hrs Max 6 handlers. £25.00
12 weeks to 6 months, includes socialisation and basics, eye contact, sit, stay, introduction to whistle commands, recall to name & whistle, lead work – the heel position, introduction to retrieving – tennis balls & dummies for fun, hunting – getting their nose on the ground. Using place boards.

Obstacle/Jumping Workshop. AV Spaniels & Retrievers.

Suitable for novice dogs & open dogs. Larger breeds I would suggest a minimum of twelve months due to skeletal growth etc. Will benefit all handlers, from newcomers to experienced handlers who want a refresh or knowledge on a subject that is often overlooked.

6/8 months plus, includes socialisation and improving basics, sit, stay, recall, whistle commands, heel work, introduction to retrieving – tennis balls & dummies for fun, hunting – getting their nose on the ground and engagement with the handler. Using place boards.

Ideally heard shot, steady to thrown dummies, can take a line & direction, but not essential. Rabbit, partridge, pheasant, pigeon. Pistol & Launcher’s will be used.

Moving on from Beginner – Sit, stay, heel work on lead, recall, delivery, marked retrieve, direction handling, stop whistle, wind direction, scent. Introduction to gunshot.

Suitable for young & Novice dogs, Open dogs welcome, wanting to practise in a group setting. Easy entry bank for young and nervous dogs, moving onto bank entries and lake length retrieves & opposite bank. Also, river retrieves, including bank to bank.

AV Spaniel Intermediate Group.
1300-1500hrs: (Max 6 handlers) £30.00
Moving on from Novice – Heel work off lead, steadiness, quartering -face/head/side wind, turn whistle, marked retrieve, memory retrieve, directional retrieve, blind retrieve, pistol & launcher use.
PM 1:21’s available.
1:2:1 lesson’s available midweek from 0800-2000hrs at our Training Ground in Ramsey, Camb’s.
We are happy to host a day’s training be that small groups, clubs, societies, either midweek or Saturday’s, tailored to your requirements, with or without instruction, with a dummy thrower provided. Pistol, launcher, blanks & dummies all included. Contact us to discuss your requirements and prices.
