Sharing incase this benefits anyone. Agata is a positive dog trainer covering Perth and surrounding areas 😊
'Are you dreading walks with your dog because of his pulling, reactivity, and total lack of recall, read on.
Let me tell you about my most popular dog training programme, the Training Walks.
These are 4 week, 8 sessions programmes, designed to bring you better results than weekly sessions, as you get much more support and guidance.
We meet twice a week, usually one week day and one weekend day, but this can be adjusted to your needs. Times are pretty flexible, including lunchtime and evening sessions.
Most of the dogs I work with bark and lunge at other dogs, and sometimes people. A large proportion of them are young, adolescent dogs, who at this age become quite difficult to train and live with.
Young dogs often pull on lead, don't come when called, are distracted by literally anything, and can fixate on moving targets like cars, joggers, wildlife, etc.
Most of the owners I meet are women, who've lost some of their confidence due to their dog's behaviours and reactions, and are now reluctant to walk their dog, or struggle to handle their dog effectively around the triggers.
The help I provide addresses both ends of the lead: the dog learns the skills he needs, and is gradually exposed to his triggers until he no longer reacts to them and responds to the handler's cues; the owner can see the change in their dog, and is then able to relax, make better choices, and form stronger relationship with their dog.
My goal is for you to understand why your dog is doing what he's doing, and how to address it. And to give you the confidence to continue the training on your own after the programme ends.
Increased confidence and knowledge is exactly what my clients like about the sessions. It's hard to train your dog when you're stressed, embarassed, and don't know what to do in tricky situations.
I often teach my student dogs myself to begin with, so they can learn faster, and so you don't have to worry about doing it wrong. By the time you take the lead your dog will already know the fundations, and will respond to you better.
If it sounds interesting, please get in touch. Even if now your walks are stressful and you're avoiding places with other dogs or people, or you think you will never let your dog off lead in public places, it can all change.
Just like many of my clients, you'll start feeeling excited at the sight of a dog approaching, as this will become an opportunity for training, not a reason to run away and hide.
About me: I've been a dog trainer and behaviour consultant in Perth and Kinross area for 15 years, I'm based in Dunning now. I use reward-based, motivational training methods.
