Trailing Dog Find: Search Dog Aika has found Pebbles missing in the dunes at Perranporth.
Well done to Tash and Search Dog Aika. Aika has worked an 18hour old trail for 400m to find where Pebbles was hiding. She was accompanied by her owner who was able to retrieve Pebbles herself as well as search support Lisa out on her first search.
We wish every search could end like this, we really do.
We wish dogs didn’t run off when scared, or run over clifftops, or get stolen or get taken by wild animals and birds. But we know they love having adventures and when it goes wrong we wish to be there as soon as possible.
Please understand that our volunteers go out to search at times when it is considered optimal for a successful result. The last thing we’ll do is chase a scared dog. Whilst our trailing dogs do work very well at night, we don’t want to startle dogs which have gone to ground overnight, this is why we often wait for first light. We understand that this can be frustrating but this gives us the best chance of success.
Remember if you lose your dog in the first instance to contact Dog Lost Cornwall or your local Dog Lost coordinator. They will have all the advice in the immediate instant that you need. More often than not if you wait in the area the dog bolts from, they will come back. Wait quietly with some food and follow all the advise you’re given.
As ever we’d like to thank you all and everyone who supports and sponsors us. Without your help we couldn’t do what we do.
Enjoy those special cuddles today 🐾🐾
If you're interested in volunteering with us, drop us a DM, we're looking for admin support, drone pilots to train, trainee dog handlers.
