As any of you lovely people who have asked me to make a coat for your whippy know, the coat I produce is tailor made to your dogs measurements. Nothing is made in advance and sold off the shelf. This is because I buy the materials in as they're needed and I never ask for payment up front as I like to know that the coat fits and you're happy with it. ( I also like to see photos to make sure im happy too!) Also its possible on certain coats that the material costs differ, more or less depending on different requirements, sizes and additions. This
" arrangement " has never faltered as I find sighthound hoomans are genuinely lovely people, and appreciate the option of choosing colours, additions and the option to try it on first as the shape of a sighthound is truly unique, and we've all bought disasters previously off the peg!!
I love my hobby, which to be truthful benefits my mental health, gives me a focus but plays havoc with my arthritis although doctors advice is to keep my joints moving...πso your coat may take a few sessions to finish, whereas years ago I would have one made in a couple of hours!!
I also support a few hound related charities and donate, coats, jumpers, collars etc. My most recent is a batch of housecollars which is currently being put together for Galgos del Sol in Murcia, Spain. When they rehome the Galgos, they are given a GPS tracker which needs to be on a housecollar. My collars will be part of the package of the rehoming process. These guys do amazing work rescuing these hunting dogs which are discarded each year and im only too happy to be able to do something. I like to do this a few times a year, so if you have any suggestions of hound charities that may be able to use some of the things I can make, please let me know. Here's the start of the collars that will be winging their way to Spain in the next couple of weeks.
