Come ice road trucking with me 🫣🤣State of play this morning, so beautiful but absolutely not for business!

Snow and compacted snow now thick ice on the main Venture Fair Road and our tracks, risk assessment says no to the general public using here so park is again closed today. I’m contacting everyone booked in to reschedule. Apologies, it’s a beautiful location but can be harsh and brutal in the winter

Winter has officially arrived at The Stackyard Park, this is 9.35pm this evening🥶🥶🥶

Unfortunately it’s as always a completely different climate here as it is a couple of miles away and the roads were pretty bad so it may be the case that I will need to reschedule bookings for the next few days. ATM I’m under the weather so can only assess the state of play with help so it may be I’ll need to decide first thing in the morning and then shut the park for the whole day. I’ll be in touch once we’ve checked roads and tracks tomorrow.

At least Team Labradestroyers loved it and now sat in front of the log burner ❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

3.50pm and sun already setting 😫

It’s looking like a cold spell next week, unfortunately we still haven’t had to water issue on our access track addressed. All we can do is fix it as temporary repairs as we don’t own it to dig up or dig up the ground where the waters coming from.

It may mean if temperatures drop significantly the track will potentially ice over and I will then have to close the dog parks and reschedule bookings.

I’ve always managed to keep the water drained and diverted but this year there is a higher volume and the track is now shared further more. I will do all I can to keep everything open so your dogs can get their exercise and off lead freedom as rain or wind they need this essential time.

If I have to reschedule due to frozen access I will contact you directly.

Hopefully we will have a decent weekend but do remember to wear wellies, waterproofs, towels for dogs etc. 👌❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Can’t beat an evening visit 👌we’ve been trialing different commercial solar lights and thankfully the type I went overboard buying are proving to be, so far, the best. So fingers and paws crossed if health is ok these will be installed at the weekend to finish off installation over the past couple of months👌🙏🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

During the wetter months (is that most months in Scotland 🤔😱🤣) I close the parks periodically to give the ground a footfall rest and to keep ground conditions as best as they possibly can be in this country 😬🙏👌. It was closed off yesterday and here is our own dogs after dark park time🌙 it’s always stunning 😍

Recommendations of tried and tested waterproof dog coats with harnesses please🙏

Ours sometimes get waterproof coats put on in winter especially now Ollie Oddity Bobbity is getting on a bit and has his ongoing health issues with his wee eyes😖😢 he hates the rain, don’t blame him!

It would be so much easier with one of these designs but how waterproof are they with a zip along the back🤔 anyone personally recommend a brand?

For us humans I swear by my Equi-Dry, I look like a tent on legs but it’s never let the rain in during the winter and so warm.

Roll on summer although trying to embrace winter, honest 🤣

It’s that time of year again 😱🤣😱😖🐾🐾🐾🐾☔️☔️🍁🍁☔️☔️

this is a wee update/reminder that darker afternoon and evening bookings are best to be taken in the After Dark Park inc. puppy paddock, the gate entrance is at opposite end of the car park at the same location as the First Aid Kits. Padlock Combination code is the same as in your booking email.

There’s a slightly different padlock at this gate to that of the Agility park to make it easier to read, once the numbers align with the marking in the middle pull on the shackle to release the lock, to relock close again and spin to random numbers.

Over the coming weeks we will continue to install further park lights and have more head torches to borrow while using the park.

I will place head torches in the first aid box, please remember to return them and switch them off.

Little things that help with the change of clocks🕰️🔦🔦🔦

Picking up p**p as soon as it enters the atmosphere, so difficult for us later on at night in the dark trying to find abandoned p**ps 💩 😱🔦😱💩

It’s helpful if you bring your own poo bags, when it’s windy the bags in the dispensers if left too “dispensed” end up being blown about until they all come out then flap about til the wind breaks them😱😱 so at times the filled dispensers can be empty for this reason

Bring some water and a bowl for your dog, just in case ours has frozen, it can freeze up on v cold days

Bring a headtorch just in case our batteries die, I rotate them so there should be charged ones always available but sometimes they get left switched on after returning to the box

Thanks again as always for booking and supporting us so we can continue to offer the parks for hire and help us invest it back into enhancing the parks and replacing equipment etc as and when required

This is devastating. I have been informed Lochay homes have removed trees they don’t have permission too and created a serious worry about falling trees. Wildlife environment all getting wiped out for profit.

The driver of the vehicle today said to the person asking wtf that the plans were changed yesterday so they were allowed to take out all these trees. This is potentially dangerous with any storm of windy weather of the gap here and also roots being damaged.

They will no doubt use our access track to get access to connect to the waste water treatment facility and the soakaway that’s to go into the Leadburn 😱😱😱there’s a wildlife reserve further downstream at Milkhall😱

I am so fed up with planning granting these developments and it ends up costing me money as last “project” was a landfill that destroyed our access track, that they over filled, that they got fined for by SEPA and I was left to pick up the pieces by paying to have tracks repaired🤬🤬🤬 in the winter of 2011 I had zero access for weeks as they’d filled in a field drain and my track sunk!

This has to stop.

There are bats, owls, birds or pray and deer here and they’ve all been disturbed by greed.

Not what you’d expect as your first dog park clients of the day😱😱😱
Some went for a jolly to try trash the horses fencing whilst the rest demanded to get in the Agility Park. Sheep agility next on the cards🤔😱🤣🤦‍♀️

I’m getting told old and I’m too broken to be hearding sheepies especially ones that came a distance to visit😱😱😱so finally they’re back where they are meant to be and their fence/gate fixed and met no dogs in the process.

First time (and last!) for everything and a new one for us! Weirdest one prior was a cyclist last week 😬🤔🤣
