Why visit Spit Beach?

Spit Beach

Donโ€™t let the name put you off. Spit Beach is a charming, south-facing beach that can be accessed via various points on the South West Coast Path. The most common route is to park in the free car park off Par Moor Road and follow the path that leads directly to the beach.

Local Gem
Off the beaten track for most visitors, Spit Beach remains a hidden gem cherished by locals. It's a popular spot for dog walkers year-round, offering a peaceful retreat away from the crowds.

Tranquil Spot
Although the approach to the beach might not be the most picturesque, Spit Beach is a great place to quietly enjoy the tranquil sound of the water. Please note that there are no facilities here, and wheelchair access can be challenging due to a footbridge and a short, steep path down to the sand.

Historical Significance
Spit Beach is located near Par Harbour, which played a significant role in Cornwall's industrial history, primarily for exporting china clay. During World War II, the area, including Spit Beach, was used for various military purposes due to the strategic importance of Par Harbour. Remnants of the industrial tramway that connected the harbour to local china clay pits can still be seen in the vicinity.

If you have visited Spit beach what do you like about it? Do you have any pictures we can share?
