It is a great shame, as she really loves all the other puppies, shes so playful and gentle with them. Willow would make an amazing mummy, I guess it will never be for her 🖤

🐾 We are pretty obsessed with health testing at Devon Bears. All our girls and potential studs have full breed specific health testing 🐾
We will give you a little bit information for each breed testing.

🖤 Congenital deafness
This has been reported for approximately 80 different breeds, with the list growing at a regular rate. It can potentially appear in any breed, especially those with white pigmentation. Congenital deafness in dogs can be acquired or inherited and the Brainstem. Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) test is the only accepted method of diagnosis.

🖤 What is the BAER test?
Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response: The BAER test measures the brain's response to a sound stimulus.
Electrodiagnostic: It's an electrodiagnostic tool that records electrical signals from the brain's auditory pathway.
Sound Stimulus: A click sound is played into the ear, and electrodes detect the electrical signals generated as this sound travels from the ear to the brain.

🖤 How is the test performed?
Electrode Placement: Small electrodes are placed on the dog's skull.
Sound Stimulus: A click sound is delivered to the ear via an earphone.
Signal Recording: The electrodes record the electrical activity from the brainstem in response to the sound.
Analysis: The resulting signals are analyzed to determine if the dog has normal hearing, hearing loss, or deafness.

🖤 Why and when is it used?
Congenital Deafness: It's a reliable method for screening for congenital (present at birth) deafness, which is common in certain breeds like Dalmatians and English Setters.
Age: Puppies are typically tested between 5-8 weeks of age to identify deafness that may develop in the early weeks of life.
Unilateral Hearing Loss: The test can also detect unilateral hearing loss (hearing in one ear only).
Breeding Programs: Responsible breeders often screen litters before puppies are sold to prevent the spread of inherited deafness.

🖤 BAER hearing screening is just one of the tests that old english sheepdogs need. Even though our oes girls are screened and cleared, our kc oes puppies also come with their own individual BAER screening certificates.

🐾 New snuffle matt, this kept them quite for at least 25/30 mins. Hunting out some well hidden treats was very hard work, with lots of concentration going on 🐾
