βοΈ Iβll be keeping an eye on the weather π but I just wanted to reassure everyone that Iβll be keeping a close eye on all of my Diddies in this weather and maintaining their safety and ultimately their wellbeing and comfort.
βοΈ If you can have a jumper/coat you can leave out for me to put your pups, that would be advised to give them that bit of added warmth! I know some people donβt believe in putting coats etc on dogs, but please consider getting an extra layer for your dog in cold temperatures particularly if your dog has a very smooth, short coat (eg. Dachshunds, Whippets, Greyhounds, Frenchies to name a few)
βοΈ Iβll be trying as best as I can to get all dogs to a more rural location for walks i.e. on to fields or woodland areas so we are away from roads and paths that are often covered in grit/salt/antifreeze - which isnβt great for doggies and their paws.
βοΈI will be wiping any paws with wipes and towel drying after all walks as well as an extra precaution, which is standard at this time of year as often we have very mucky pups! But particularly when itβs snowy or icy, this is especially important to prevent them from licking any antifreeze/salt from their little paws.
βοΈ Small and medium sized dogs (also young puppies and our senior pups) are more at risk from particularly cold temperatures, and as I walk only small and medium sized dogs, I will be extra careful with all my Diddies and if I feel itβs not necessary to be out longer than needed and they arenβt enjoying themselves, I will reduce their walk time down. If this happens, I will of course invoice you accordingly. But Iβll never, ever force any dog to walk or spend time outside in weather theyβre not comfortable in.
β In terms of any off lead walks, if we do get any substantial snow, Iβll be heading for walking spots where I know its predominantly or completely fenced and secure, or in some cases will keep dogs on lead or on long lines. The reason for this being dogs can become disoriented in snow, and the last thing I want is to lose any of your fur babies - especially in freezing temperatures.
βοΈ Iβll be avoiding any areas that are nearby rivers/lakes for obvious reasons.
