They tell you to surround yourself with people you want to become, have similar aspirations and values. Kevin is one of those people. He practices what he preaches and if you ever get the opportunity to work with him I highly recommend it (I will be making that happen in the Northwest!). I’m extremely proud of Kevin and Raven, and watching her track/trail is just one of those things you have to see it in action to really see how amazing this dog is, but behind that is hours and hours of work! It didn’t just happen by chance! There are just trails that stick in your mind and she takes up a lot of that memory space! 👏👏👏👏

It’s been a superb few days up in Scotland with my fellow instructors. The first two days have been spent working our own dogs, really pushing us both handler and instructor perspectives.
I stand by the fact that tracking and trailing are art forms, and the only way you learn is by doing, and continuous development with those that live and breathe it and with a group you trust and respect.

It takes years to really master this craft with your own dogs let alone others! But I’m bloody liking this adventure and people I get to to share it with!

As we gear up for a return… why not immerse yourself into Kathryn from Trailing K9s online platform. Kathryn provided a small seminar back in October and continues to put out new discoveries, things we are learning in science (or why we are not despite efforts from the academics!) and gets you thinking as a handler and to look at things from the dogs POV.
