☀️🐶 HOT WEATHER WARNING 🐶☀️
Heat stroke in dogs can happen in minutes and can be fatal. Please think twice before walking your dog in hot weather. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them.
🌡️ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.💧 Provide plenty of fresh water and shade.🐾 Remember, hot pavements can burn paws.🚨 If you suspect heat stroke, the golden rule is:
❄️ COOL FIRST, TRANSPORT SECOND.💦 WET THEN VET.
Cooling your dog before travelling to the vet can save their life.
Please share to help keep more dogs safe this summer. ❤️🐾

🐾 Choosing a Licensed Home Boarder Matters 🐾

When leaving your dog in someone else’s care, it’s important to do your own research and make sure you’re choosing a licensed home boarder.

A licence isn’t just a piece of paper – it shows that the boarder has been inspected by their local council and meets specific welfare, safety and legal requirements designed to protect your dog.

Unfortunately, not everyone offering home boarding services is licensed. Using an unlicensed boarder could mean that welfare standards haven’t been checked, insurance may be invalid, and if authorities become involved, the boarding arrangement could be disrupted.

Before booking, always:

✅ Ask to see a copy of their licence
✅ Check their licence number is valid
✅ Read reviews and recommendations
✅ Arrange a meet and greet
✅ Ask questions about their experience, insurance and emergency procedures

Your dog is a member of the family, so it’s worth taking the time to make an informed decision.

A reputable boarder will never be offended by questions and will be happy to provide evidence of their licence, insurance and qualifications.

Do your research, ask questions and choose a licensed boarder for complete peace of mind. 🐶❤️

You’re not just paying per 24 hours for someone to look after your dog.

You’re investing in adventure walks, daily enrichment, constant supervision, risk assessments, behaviour monitoring, and expert care tailored to dogs of all personalities, ages, and needs.

You’re paying for knowledge, experience, professional training, and the responsibility that comes with caring for a much-loved family member.

People often say, “What a great job!” — and they’re absolutely right, I love what I do. But running a professional home boarding business involves far more than spending time with dogs. Behind the scenes there’s bookkeeping, tax returns, enquiries, bookings, maintaining equipment, cleaning, washing, record keeping, ongoing training, and ensuring every licensing and welfare requirement is met.

Home boarding is a luxury service — a true home-from-home experience where your dog becomes part of the family, enjoys enriching adventures, and receives individual care and attention every day.

Every dog walker and home boarder has their own strengths and specialties. Mine is providing safe, enriching adventure walks and creating memorable experiences for the dogs in my care. What we all share is a genuine love and passion for dogs.

So when people question the price, it’s worth remembering that you’re not paying for a single service. You’re paying for a collection of skills, knowledge, experience, dedication, trust, and professional care.

Let’s support one another and help people understand the true value behind what we do. ❤️🐾

I AIN’T REALLY MISBEHAVING - I’M JUST DOING WHAT DOGS DO!

What we may label as bad behaviour is often nothing more than a dog behaving exactly as nature designed them to.

Dogs are not born understanding human rules, household etiquette or the expectations we place on them.
They don't automatically know that some things are not meant to be chewed, that food left on a countertop is strictly off-limits or that they’re expected to walk calmly on a leash.

When we bring dogs into our lives, we expect them to automatically adapt to a world that is not naturally theirs.
We confine them to houses and yards, expect them to fit into our busy schedules, keep quiet and ignore the countless natural temptations that surround them every day.

When we view behaviour through this lens, frustration should begin to give way to understanding.

Understanding behaviour does not mean allowing dogs to do whatever they want. It means recognizing that behaviour serves a purpose and is fulfilling a need.

Instead of punishing a dog for behaving naturally, we can guide them towards behaviours that are acceptable. We can prevent rehearsal of unwanted behaviour, teach new skills, meet their physical, emotional and social needs, and provide appropriate outlets for their natural needs.

Dogs who are given opportunities to sniff, explore, chew, forage, play, problem-solve and engage with their environment are far better equipped to cope with the expectations placed on them.

The more we understand why dogs do what they do, the more successful we can become at helping them navigate our human world.

When we stop viewing every unwanted behaviour as misbehaviour and start seeing it as communication, we shift from trying to control our dogs to supporting and meeting their needs.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our dogs is our understanding.

Home boarding is so much more than just a place for dogs to stay. 🐾

No strict kennel schedules here – our days are tailored around the dogs. On warmer days, we can head out for an early morning adventure walk before the heat arrives, or enjoy a later stroll when it’s cooler and more comfortable.

Between walks, there’s plenty of enrichment to keep busy minds happy and engaged. From snuffle mats, LickiMats and frozen Kongs to paddling pools, apple bobbing and interactive games, every day is designed to be fun, stimulating and stress-free.

A true home-from-home experience where dogs can relax, explore, play and enjoy life at their own pace. ❤️🐶
