Please bring ID with you. AAL no - LN000002131 Reptilia has found the need to open up a reptile rescue centre based in West Yorkshire to help out with the ever increasing demand to find reptiles a good loving, forever home. We aim to help educate people before a decision is made on which is the right pet to help them become a pet for life. As well as offering a service to the public we also help o

ut with RSPCA. Due to the complex needs of reptiles many are being kept in unsuitable conditions which may lead to lack of nutrition and basic needs sometimes due to lack of knowledge or neglect. At Reptilia we offer a reptile workshop which aims to cover the basic requirements which is needed to give reptiles everyday care they require. The recent trend to breed reptiles has also seen a growing number of unnecessarily bred bearded dragons and corn snakes to the point where the breeders are willing to give animals away just to move them on. This gives temptation for new keepers to take on a free pet just because its free. Many unfortunately end up in rescue centres. We offer an advice service by phone, facebook and email, helping with the welfare and care of all reptiles. We are also open 7 days a week for aftercare service. All animals that are ready for rehoming after being assessed and rehabilitated at Reptilia will be advertised in our shop and also on our page. We have reptiles looking for good loving homes. We also take in reptiles that the owners can no longer care for. Any reptiles accepted apart from those which require a DWA license. Donations of unwanted reptile equipment and vivariums are gratefully accepted

Hello everyone! Just wanted to give a quick show of one of our snakes!

This is Amber, Amber is our most curious snake thus far, always out of her hide and exploring, eager to look at you with their derpy little face. Sorry to disappoint the Paleontologists, but she is a very active snake and loves to explore!

Amber is available for adoption, and we are accepting inquiries!

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately for our sweet Ocean, the person reserving them is no longer able to collect (to no fault of their own) and thus Ocean is now available again for rehoming.

Ocean is a shy budgie, who often more than not lets his curiosity get the best of him as he waddles to the front of his cage and watches you (until you watch him and he flies to the top)

Ocean is looking for preferably a flock or a couple of other budgies to bond with, so if you have any inquiries be sure to send a message! :)

Hello everyone! Although we are closed today, it did not stop me from venturing fourth into the ever-changing land of Peculiar Pets Ltd - Heckmondwike. Absolutely worth it.

I ended up going home with both a free tarantula (thank you πŸ™„) and a new Faunalux Truechroma 35w! Ive personally had my eye on these bulbs since their release, but I must say upon screwing the bulb into my vivarium, im immediately noticing my bearded dragon underneath it, taking all that lovely UVA-1 in.

The Faunalux Truechroma is recommended by vets, known reptile enthusiasts in the hobby and whenever I go into a well-renowned shop, they too are talking about it. I am always giddy to try new equipment in this expansive hobby and the benefits of this bulb seem particularly keen to your diurnal creatures! Although your nocturnal and crepusculars will still benefit. The beauty of these bulbs is the fact that they aid the reptile in terms of vision and their overall wellbeing. We will definitely be getting these bulbs in when we get the chance, and testing them on our reptiles on the shop floor so you too can come in and see them in action.

At Reptilia, we always desire to see better practices for husbandry and strive to idolise newer customs and better methods of heating and lighting for these animals. As such, we would recommend this bulb for any who are capable of trying it.

From my conversation with Jordan at Peculiar Pets, he has been using these for his tortoise and from my understanding, he was quite happy with how they performed.

We do not have any Truechroma bulbs in just yet, and as such recommend getting yours from Peculiar Pets if you wish to try them sooner rather than later! We will be hopefully stocking them soon and talking more about them then :)

Hello all! Despite my gatekeeping of these two beautiful snakes, it is time for me to show these absolute beauties. They're not a common snake that we get in, and its a shame because this is a species that we absolutely love.

Garter snakes!

You may have seen them in the shop, we call them Marshmallow and Tipsy and they are quite the comedic duo. You have the shy Marshmallow who cannot aim for their food for the life of them, often eating fingers and tongs before getting their meal and then you have the wondrous Tipsy who has a preference for being Upside Down (I'll take this as a note to say any mention of the horrendous stranger things ending will get you overcharged by Β£10,000 for emotional damage. [This is a joke] ) Tipsy does have neurological issues, and often will roam around as if they're on a roller coaster.

Both these snakes came in together due to a change in circumstances, and were handled regularly before their rehoming. We have kept that tradition up, but the stress of rehoming has made them slightly more fickle, opting for swift exits rather than engaging in handling on occasions.

Garter snakes are perfect for communal living as long as the enclosure is of an adequate size. As these garters are rather young they will need to be housed separately from any existing colonies of garter snakes until they are of similar size. These garters are still young, and have a lot of growing ahead of them.

They will be available late-january, though we are taking inquries for when they are available! Both snakes have been health checked throughout their stay and have been active and healthy for two months since being with us.

🐍 Everyone give Mouse a huge Reptilia Realm Rescue welcome! 🐍

This beautiful girl has found her way back to us through no fault of her own. Mouse was previously a successful adoption and returned only due to unforeseen circumstances within her former family. We are so honoured to have her back in our care and thrilled to see how well she continues to do!

Mouse is an absolutely lovely lady with a great appetite and, for the most part, handles very well. She does have the spider gene, which means she experiences neurological symptoms such as a head wobble and reduced control of her head movements. While this can occasionally make things challenging for her, Mouse continues to thrive with proper care and understanding.

Because of her condition, Mouse can sometimes become disoriented and may accidentally bite herself or others. For this reason, we are seeking an experienced reptile keeper who is confident in working with snakes that have special needs and can provide her with the patient, knowledgeable home she deserves.

If you think you could be the right match for this special girl, please reach out to us πŸ’š

You can contact us via Facebook, or give us a call on 01924694461. An adoption fee applies, and we will need to see pictures of the vivarium, heating, lighting and thermostat she will be going with before we can approve the adoption.

Hello everyone! I must start by saying, the weather today was horrendous. Never did I ever think I would be going to work with icicles forming from my nostrils and toes as black as the Game of Thrones, Battle of Winterfell episode. (Is this joke too nerdy? Let me know please 😞) The reason I bring up the temperature on a post like this is due to just how baffled I was this morning when a poor lady came in, requesting equipment for a cornsnake she saw her neighbours throwing into the bin because they no longer wanted it. It made me think just how lucky that corn snake was to have someone to rescue it.

So, today id like to show just two of our cornsnakes that we've had in the rescue for a couple of month. We are aware the market refuses to acknowledge these snakes unless their morph is an abundance of just obscure titles that essentially translate to "they're black and green".

For context on their personalities:

Medusa can be rather viv defensive when inside their enclosure, they just love to show off that hiss and rattling tail of theirs! When out however, you can tell this is a snake that just wants to be enveloped in a cuddle of trust. They aren't aggressive, they're just scared, and unlike who im about to talk about, Medusa likes to act tough when in actuality, they just need the right piece for their puzzle.

Tony is the Lightning McQueen of the Cornsnakes. Their tendency to bolt in any direction, including (many-a-times) keychains makes me think of the tiger from Madagascar 3. Just how he fits into every nook and cranny is almost impressive. Tony is the same, hes just a sincerely shy chap and genuinely would be a lovely snake if the right Yin fit his Yang.

These arent our only cornsnakes, but they deserve the spotlight. We are often overrun with cornsnakes and royals, and genuinely just wish for them to go to the homes that fit them most. If you have any inquiries, please drop us a message and we can discuss the process of adopting these snakes.

We will refuse any breeders.

Hi all! This is a strange post but we have recently brought in a pigeon that has a breeder ring on its foot! We won't address the colour or the numbers so if you have recently lost a pigeon, please message us. It is currently in quarantine.

[The pigeon has now been rescued]

Hello everyone!

We're here to introduce Athos, the most splendid (skittish) beauty snake we've had the joy of working with, although there comes a time where our rescues need to find their perfect home!

Athos is a well-rounded snake, with some minor quirks! They are active, but skittish when they see our mugs peering into the enclosure. They are a spendid eater, but only when you leave it in? (We're working on itπŸ˜”)

This snake is not for beginners though, despite the name. They can be snappy, fast and need large enclosures.

If you have any inquiries, do send a message ! :)

Hello everyone! A quiet day today but it has given us time to put through our invertebrate order! If you see something you like, send a message and we can discuss holding it till you pop down! The list goes as follows:

Brachypelma hamorri (3cm)
Acanthoscurria geniculata (5-6cm)
Lasiodora parahybana (12cm)
Tliltocatl vagans (1-2cm)
Tliltocatl albopilosus (2cm)
Lasiodora klugi - (1-2cm)
Brachypelma emilia (2cm) (personal favourite, theyre a beauty.)
Pterinochilus murinus RCF (3cm)
Lasiocyano sazimai (2-3cm)
Monocentropus balfouri (4cm)

Its a small order for now! But we're working our way up :)
If you are curious about any of the tarantulas labeled here, comment and we'll let you know what they look like and their needs!

Every Christmas time, our rescue opens its doors to an increased number of surrendered animals, especially snakes. Life changes and unexpected circumstances often lead to people needing to make difficult decisions and snakes are among the animals most frequently needing new homes.

We want everyone to know that these animals are not being surrendered because they aren't good companions. Each snake that comes to us has its own personality, sometimes gentle, sometimes wild, but each one offers its own unique quiet charm. With the right environment and a bit of understanding, snakes can be incredibly rewarding pets who ask for very little but give a great deal in return.

This Christmas, we're caring for several beautiful snakes hoping for a fresh start.

1. Meet Medusa, a gorgeous snake with a big presence and a big heart once she feels safe. In her vivarium she can be defensive as her home is her comfort zone but the moment she is out and in your hands, she softens completely. She becomes calm, curious and is genuinely a lovely snake to handle.

She is looking for someone who understands her need for a respectful approach and has a bit of patience.

2. Introducing Tagliatelle. They're everything you would hope for in a Royal - gentle, steady and easy to handle. If you're looking for a classic calm companion, Tagliatelle is as lovely as they come.

3. Meet Tony, our resident rocket. He is always on the move, zipping and shooting about with enough energy to make you wonder what they're putting in those mice. He can be a bit of a handful to wrangle, but his goofy personality makes every moment with him entertaining.

He may be a little wild but he is full of character and sure to make you laugh. If you're looking for a snake with zero dull moments, Tony's your guy.

4. Meet Minestrone, another wonderfully calm Royal. Just like Tagliatelle, they're a classic Royal Python - easy to handle and laid-back. If you're searching for a gentle companion, Minestrone is a lovely choice.

πŸ’š We use pronouns for all of our snakes in the rescue to make their descriptions more fun and personal but please note that all snakes are adopted out unsexed unless otherwise stated.
