🐾 Found Cat – Sphynx Type 🐾

Found in the Dewsbury Road, Swithenbank area of Ossett (WF5).
Looks like a Sphynx cat (hairless breed).

The cat is microchipped but sadly there’s no registered information linked to the chip. S*x is still to be confirmed but the cat is currently safe and being cared for whilst an owner is traced.

If you think this might be your cat, you will need to provide proof of ownership (photos, vet records, etc.).

Please share so we can reunite this lovely cat with their owner.
Do you recognise it?

Please get in touch with Cats Protection Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield through Messenger or email to 👉[email protected]

🐔⚠ IMPORTANT PLEASE READ ⚠🐔
Avian Influenza (AI), also known as "Bird Flu," is a viral infection that can affect many bird species, especially poultry like chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese.

You may have seen reported that there has been confirmed cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the nearby area.

The following link details more information and the affected areas:
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bird-flu-avian-influenza-latest-situation-in-england

Owners of birds with outdoor access need to be particularly aware of AI as it can be spread by migratory and wild birds.
Even indoor birds, like caged songbirds, have a lower risk but could still be exposed through contaminated materials brought inside.

Be observant of your birds for any changes. Signs of AI can be variable but may include reduced egg production, difficulty breathing (fast breathing, panting), diarrhoea, and reduced food and water intake.

More severe signs include high levels of sudden death and a blue colouration of the comb and wattle.

Remember, these signs can be common to other diseases, so always consult your vet if you have concerns. Ducks and geese might show milder signs.

Due to the current Avian Influenza (AI) findings we must take precautions when looking after sick and/or injured birds.
We have to consider quarantine measures and ask politely not to bring poorly birds into the practice. Please call us for guidance.

If you need to report sick or dead wild birds, please call DEFRA 03459 33 55 77

Thank you for taking the time to read and if you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to call us on 01924 786688

A lovely cool treat for lovely cool cats! What summer treats do you make for your cat? 😎
Tuna + Water + Freezer = 😻
Grab a tin of tuna in water (not brine or oil) and mash it up a little.
Pop a little bit of water into the tuna.
Next, you’ll need to put SMALL cat sized dollops into an ice cube tray and leave in the freezer overnight.
A lovely cool treat for lovely cool cats! What summer treats do you make for your cat? 😎

Springtime Dangers to Watch Out For! ⚠️

🍫 Easter eggs & hot cross buns: Tempting for pets, but toxic if ingested!
🌱 Toxic plants: Plants like lilies, tulips, and daffodils can be harmful to curious nibblers
⚠️ Outdoor hazards: Fertilizers, garden chemicals, and slug bait are all no-go zones
🐜 Fleas & ticks: These pesky critters love the warmer weather, so ask us about protecting your pet
🤧 Allergies: Just like us, pets can suffer from spring allergies too. Watch for sneezing, itching, or watery eyes!

If you think your pet has eaten or been exposed to any of these toxins or hazards, don’t wait - contact your vet right away. Acting fast can make all the difference!
