🐾 LET THEM SNIFF – IT’S HOW THEY SEE THE WORLD 🐾

That moment when your dog stops, nose to the ground, tail wagging gently… they’re not just dawdling—they’re decoding a story we’ll never smell.

A dog’s nose is an incredible bit of kit.
👃 They have between 240 million and potentially 1 billion scent receptors (we’ve got around 5 million).
🧠 The part of their brain that analyses scent is 40% bigger than ours.
💨 They can even sniff in stereo—each nostril working independently!

Sniffing isn’t “just” a walk delay. It’s:
✔️ Natural enrichment
✔️ Mental exercise
✔️ Calming and confidence-building
✔️ A chance for your dog to process the environment like we read the news

💬 Letting them sniff = letting them be a dog.
So next time your dog wants to stop and take in the smells—pause with them. Breathe. Watch their body soften.

☀️ hot weather notice ☀️

With warmer weather becoming more frequent, and temperatures reaching 24 degrees any walks that are scheduled during the hotter hours of the day will be shortened or changed to pet visits

There are lots of ways to keep your dog cool in the heat, especially following advice given for individuals breeds.
🐾 provide shades areas
🐾 provide plenty of water
🐾 ice cubes - on their own or frozen with treats or in toys
🐾 doggy paddling pools, for those who enjoying being in water and cooling mats for those who don’t
🐾 changing walks to cooler times of the day, early morning or in the evening
🐾 playing enrichment games inside - scent games, hide and seek, learning a new trick or treat toys and puzzles

It’s important to be able to spot the signs of heat stroke in a dog, please call your vets immediately if you spot any of the signs
