I’m really happy to share that while I’m away, two fantastic groomers will be looking after my Amber Polly Pets clients 🐾
I’ve chosen to work alongside Bubbles & Barks Grooming and JL Grooming Services, and I couldn’t be more confident in them both. I’ll still be available behind the scenes to support with any questions about your pooches—their individual needs, preferences, and grooming styles—so you can feel completely at ease.
I really hope you’re happy with my choices. Both groomers offer convenient services—Josh has a fully equipped mobile grooming van, and Keira runs a lovely grooming salon within a pet shop just 14 minutes from Dorking. She also offers pick-up and drop-off services (fuel fees may apply due to rising costs).
Josh covers Forest Green, Ockley, Capel, Walliswood, Okewood Hill, Warnham, Dorking, and all surrounding areas. Keira also covers these areas, however she additionally covers Fetcham and surrounding nearby locations.
The aim is to make things as easy and stress-free as possible for you and your dogs, while still delivering a top-notch grooming experience ✂️🐶

Hi everyone,

I’m absolutely devastated to be writing this, but due to my high-risk pregnancy with triplets, I’ve been advised by medical professionals that I need to stop grooming for now.

Unfortunately, the babies aren’t growing at the pace they should be, so I’ve been told to rest as much as possible and avoid heavy lifting or being on my feet for long periods. As you all know, grooming is very physical, so I have to put the babies first and give them the best possible chance.

I had really hoped to continue grooming until June or early July, so this has come much sooner than expected.

The good news is that I’ve personally found some lovely groomers who will be able to look after your doggies. I’ve met with them and gone through the level of care I provide for your fur babies, so I feel confident you’ll be in safe hands. I’ll also still be available from home if they need to contact me with any questions.

After my maternity leave, if you’d like to return, I would be more than happy to continue grooming for you and your doggies.

In the meantime, please could you let me know if you’re happy for me to pass on your mobile number along with your dog’s name and breed, so I can arrange everything with your new groomer?

Hello everyone 👋

I’m reaching out to local groomers in the area regarding a potential opportunity.

Over the past 7 years at Amber Polly Pets, I’ve built a lovely and loyal client base, and I’m now looking for the right groomer who may be interested / I can recommend and trust in taking on some or all of my clients while I’m away on maternity leave.

My main priority is making sure my clients continue to receive the same high level of care, kindness, and service they’re used to. This could be a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their business with regular, established customers over the next 1–2 years.

I’m looking for a fair arrangement, with everything clearly agreed in writing, including a list of any clients who book with you, so everything is straightforward and transparent for both of us.

Once I return from maternity leave, I would expect all clients to be returned fully to Amber Polly Pets should they wish to come back. I can also provide a full list of grooming clients, along with notes on the grooming styles and trims they usually have.

I’d love to hear from any trustworthy, experienced groomers who may be interested in discussing this further.

Dogs’ nails should be trimmed regularly—ideally every 4–6 weeks to keep them at a healthy length and prevent a range of problems. When nails grow too long, they can start to touch the ground when the dog is standing or walking. This puts extra pressure on the nail bed and can cause discomfort or even pain over time.

Long nails are also more likely to split, crack, or tear, which can be very painful and may lead to infections. In some cases, nails can curl and grow into the paw pads, causing injury and requiring veterinary treatment. Regular trimming helps avoid these issues and keeps your dog comfortable and mobile.

Keeping nails short also supports proper posture and joint health. Overgrown nails can force a dog to adjust how they walk, which may lead to strain on their legs and joints over time. This is especially important for older dogs or those with existing mobility issues.

Another benefit of routine nail trimming is that it helps keep the “quick” (the blood vessel inside the nail) shorter. When nails are left too long for extended periods, the quick grows out with the nail, making it harder to trim them back safely. Regular maintenance allows for shorter, healthier nails and reduces the risk of cutting the quick.

For most dogs, trimming every 4–6 weeks is ideal, although some may need it more or less often depending on their activity levels and how quickly their nails grow. Keeping up with this routine is a simple but important part of your dog’s overall health and wellbeing. 🐾
