❄️ Cold Weather & Your Pets – A Winter Reminder
With the colder weather we’ve been experiencing, it’s a good time to remember that low temperatures can pose real risks for our pets.
❄️ Increased risk of hypothermia, especially in puppies, kittens, elderly pets, and those with underlying health conditions
❄️ Slippery pavements and icy ground can lead to injuries
❄️ Cold, damp conditions may worsen arthritis and joint pain
❄️ Outdoor animals may need extra shelter, warmth, and fresh (unfrozen) water
❄️ Pets eating or licking grit and salt can suffer from salt poisoning and grit can damage the paws
Please keep walks shorter during very cold spells, dry pets thoroughly after being outside, and ensure they have a warm, draught-free place to rest indoors.
If you’re ever unsure whether the weather is safe for your pet — or if you’re concerned about their wellbeing — our team is always happy to advise. 🐾💚
Stay warm and safe this winter,
Catmose Vets
