A new chapter β€” same dogs, same care, new name. 🐾

If you've been following us as Rescue Malis at Meadow View, hello again β€” and thank you for being here. You already know the dogs, and the slow, patient work of rehabilitation. None of that is changing.

What is changing is the name on the door. From today, this page is Corner Meadow Animal Rehabilitation β€” CMAR. We've grown into a small, not-for-profit Community Benefit Society, a member of Co-operative UK; caring for animals who haven't had the best start in life, and the new name reflects what we do now: rehabilitation work that goes beyond any one breed.

The Malinois are still very much at the heart of it. Right now, we're caring for three of them here at CMAR β€” amazingly clever, sensitive dogs, working their way back to comfort and learning that they are loved. You'll keep seeing them here, alongside the wider work we're building around them, to help the community learn more about responsible ownership.

To mark the change, we'd love to see you in person. We'll be on the Meadow View Dog Training & Paddock stand, at the Rutland Show on Sunday 31st May β€” come and find us, say hello, and put faces to the page you've followed.

Whether you've been here for a while or you're just finding us today, we're really glad you're here. πŸ’›

😱 MY GOODNESS!!!!!🫢πŸ’ͺπŸ’«πŸΎ!!!!!

We can't tell you how incredibly touched and honored we were when Paul announced to us that himself and his best friend Collie 'Moss' were going to walk......' 1200 miles '....to fundraise for CMAR!!!πŸ˜³πŸ‘£πŸΎ....

To be honest we just can't comprehend 1200 Miles from John O'Groats to Land's End!!!!...Almost all off road and over the mountains!!!!!! 😱
The distance, or how sore Paul's feet will get!....🫣

Adopting our latest rescue Malinios 'Munch' ( saving him from euthanasia) has added considerable financial costs!!
His basic Insurance, vet bills and food alone will amount to hundreds!

This will help us to support and care for Munch! πŸ«ΆπŸ’ž

Please sponser Paul's 1200 mile walk with Moss, and his amazing efforts to support us with the link below: πŸ™πŸ’ͺ🧑

We look forward to following Paul & Moss's amazing journey over the next couple of months!!!!!! πŸ™Œ

Thank you Paul & Moss!!!!!πŸ₯ΉXx

So we would like you all to know that
' Munch' ( previously Bulut) will be staying with us now ...as his forever home! 🧑🐾🫢

Despite our amazing progress over the last 8 months with our training, the shelter decided that they were not willing to support his placement anymore.
We were given a choice to return him to shelter for assessment for pet dog rehoming ( which he would fail, resulting in euthanasia for him) or us adopting him first.

After confirming our choice to adopt on Easter Sunday we signed his adoption paperwork on Tuesday....
Munch is now safe! πŸ’ž

He was placed with us as a last lifeline with euthanasia as his only other option from a large shelter. He was not coping in the shelter, had shown human and dog agression and his behaviour was regressing each day.
The shelter was unable to meet his needs, so we agreed to a specialist foster placement here with us.

We have made huge progress from the aggressive Malinios that came to us already on meds!!!!

He could not meet new people safely and would be extremely agressive towards men, ( likely been trained.)
He resource guarded toys and high value treats, would latch onto any tree and shrub in an external environment and was unable to make good emotional choices.πŸ˜–

With hours and hours of ethical, kind and knowledgeable training we are turning his life around!
He now has several 'men' that can engage with him without a muzzle...in fact they have become his family and will play and train with him! 🫢
He can give and share high value toys and food! He has some lovely impulse control and can recall away from sitiations and objects! πŸ’«
He understands and enjoys his scentwork, tracking, agility, hoopers and obedience training.
He has learned to trust...and although we still have far to go... he is making good and self controlled choices!

Here we believe, the key is not to train the dog to 'obey and do as they are told'...but to understand what and why we are asking them to do something....so they can interact and respond! Helping him to trust and understand his world gives him the safe space to focus and make good choices! πŸ₯°

As a Mali...a pet home was never going to be on the cards for him........ we will always have the responsibility to manage and control and meet all his demanding and specialist needs! As a Malis with past trauma and conflict we will be forever progressing with his training!!

We will continue to educate on the responsibilities of this breed!!!
We will try and save other Malinios from landing in unrealistic pet dog homes resulting in shelter and euthanasia outcomes!!!!

Thank you to all those that have been part of his journey so far, and to all of you that have helped support CMAR!! πŸ’ž

We will be looking to fundraise for Munch to cover his insurance, food and meds as we will now have to meet these costs....so if anyone could consider a donation towards his care it would be very much appreciated!!! πŸ™β€οΈπŸΎ:

So as some of you may already know, my daughter was privileged enough to be selected to have a beautifully breed sports puppy.
After much thought and debate, we felt she deserved the oppurtunity as she has only ever had complex behavioural rescue dogs growing up. ( This has certainly made her the trainer she is today and enabled her to help and train our rescues!)

This is her first ever puppy and she hopes to compete with him one day.
So we would like to introduce our very first non- rescue..' Mustang' 🩡 the baby malinios.🐾

Why are we sharing this news with you? Because firstly we are very sure you will be viewing him in video updates.....in fact we want to share some of the latest over the last few days.
It has been a VERY COMPLEX INCREMENTAL gradual and careful introduction to Meadow and Miles since he arrived 3 weeks ago.πŸ˜–πŸ«£πŸ˜¬
( Munch is not yet ready to meet a puppy )

But with our very careful handling and training we are absolutely delighted to tell you Miles has a new little 'friend!' πŸ₯°πŸ₯ΉπŸ™πŸ«ΆπŸΎ Meadow is cautious but is being given the space she needs and requires and is slowly warming to him as she gains confidence!

I can't tell you how this makes my heart swell!- from a broken little bait dog to bestie with his little puppy! From a once traumatised horrifically petrified dog that wanted to fear attack everyone and could not be let anywhere near another dog other than his mum....to this!πŸ’ž

This little puppy 'Mustang' is going to play a HUGE part in their rehabilitation.... helping them to enjoy and feel safe around another dog. Excited for the future! πŸ₯°

Thank you to everyone that attended our CMAR Willow Weaving Workshops! πŸ₯°πŸŒΏ
Last Sunday so much fun was had whilst we raised finds for our rescues!🫢
It was a wonderful oppurtunity for socialisation training for rescue Malinios Meadow & Miles.πŸ’žπŸΎ
Our members were able to interact with them and some members meeting them for their first time!
They were impeccably behaved despite the novel and busy environment...once again showing just how far they have come on their rehabilitation journey!🀩 Proud was an understatement!!!
We were able to educate our members about the work of CMAR and an enjoyable day was had by all!!

Thanks to Jane & John Blue Flamingo Design for an amazing workshop! πŸ’«πŸ™Œ

Happy Mothers Day! πŸ₯° Especially to our very own rescue Mali mum 'Meadow'! Found stray with her son 'Miles'.. how she kept him safe we will never know!
But one thing we do know...the bond we saw between them ,we promised would never be broken! Rescued together- stay together! πŸ’žπŸ«ΆπŸΎ

So a little update on Mr Munch. When this boy came to us 8 months ago for specialist fostering we were his last lifeline. He would aggressively attack and lunge at men! ( most certainly a behavior he had been taught!!) He didn't know any different, was conflicted and confused. It has been a tough few months..but thanks to the hours from our experienced behavioural trainers and dedication ( and bravery ) from our stoodge volunteers at CMAR we are making progress!
Using only kind, ethical methods we are changing this boys emotional response and teaching him to trust and engage with men. His life is looking much brighter..a long way to go but we WILL save this boy! πŸ’žπŸΎπŸ’ͺ

😁 A few pics from the Christmas Holidays, Meadow & Miles have been working on their social visits in public.πŸ₯°πŸ™Œ

A huge thank you to Sam & Lauren at Petscorner :) for patiently assisting them whilst they spent the pennies from those that kindly gifted them for Christmas! ( So thoughtful and appreciated!πŸ«ΆπŸ’žπŸŽ)
Meadow was NOT leaving without the pink bunny...she dived straight over and picked the bunny toy..she knew exactly which one she wanted!πŸ˜πŸ«ΆπŸ˜‚ Miles choose a Christmas stuffed πŸ¦• dinosaur!🀭... they behaved beautifully and the girls helped Miles feel safe as he was a little anxious!

Also a huge thank you to Lauren and ladies The Helenium Tea Room at Barnsdale Gardens at Barnsdale Gardens! Some great cafe settle work with lots of fusses and cuddles. Miles still gets anxious in novel environments and context...but we were welcomed and made to feel at home! Nothing was too much trouble for the ladies and every help was offered with their training.

We are very lucky to have such lovely local businesses that assist with our rescue rehab training. Hours of confidence building and training are now allowing Meadow & Miles to experience more.πŸ€©πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026! πŸ₯³πŸŽŠπŸΎ
A bit belated because Mr Munch decided to play Rambo as Malis do πŸ«£πŸ™„ and jumped on and off the digger in the training barn πŸ˜³πŸ™ˆ!!!
( we were taking down ceiling xmas decorations) Resulting in a very sore and lame boy with possible serious injuries! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

A huge thank you to our amazing Catmose Vets !!!!!!! We are SO grateful πŸ™ to have a local independent veterinary practice open out of hours- even on New years day!!!!! 🌟
As always nothing was too much trouble! Phone answered straight away and immediately welcomed us to come in!

Mr Munch although making fantastic progress with his rehabilitation, is still a high risk patient! A rehab Mali in pain is probably not the first choice patient of the New year!😬

Everything was done to accommodate his needs and training! We stayed with him as his sedation kicked in, until he was ready to be lifted to the surgery table, limiting his stress.
( well done Victor- not the lightest dog !πŸ’ͺ)

Examination and x- rays revealed broken toe and damaged nail.πŸ˜– Nail removed, cleaned and pain killers and meds administered! Victor allowed us to be present as he came round ( so important!) and monitored until he was ok to go home!

SO proud of his behaviour this evening!!!! All his rehabilitation training paying off and allowing him to make good decisions even when under pain and pressure!!!😁🫢🀩

Extremely grateful we have a fantastic capable veterinary team that work with us with our rehabilitation malinios! Never compromising our training and progress! Always listening and working with us! This is INVALUABLE in their training journey!
Thank you SO much Catmose Vets and sorry we disturbed your New year!

No more playing 'Rambo' for Mr Munch!πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ₯°.......so pleased it wasn't anything more serious. 🫢🐾xx
