✨️Stationary Obedience & Neutrality✨️

Here is a quick vid from one of our training sessions this week (Rain came free of charge). You can see we have multiple dogs positioned around the training area with their handlers spaced apart.

Several dogs are holding a sit or down positions but all are asked to stay while their handlers move away from them.

We are looking for the dogs to remain calm and focused despite:
▪️Other dogs nearby.
▪️People moving around.
▪️Movement within the training area.
▪️Environmental distractions.

This exercise is designed to build:
▪️More ️reliable stays.
▪️️Impulse control.
▪️️Patience.
▪️️Focus on the handler.
▪️️Calm behaviour around other dogs.

This was there ⭐️1st ⭐️ever class, working off lead, learning the heel position to remove future lead pulling and starting to work on positions. This is why I love my job, both were a total delight ❤️

Often we start puppy training with our pup's working directly in front of us, but as they grow & progress, teaching them to work at our side is an important step towards reliable, real-world obedience.

Why transition to the side?🐾🐕

🔹️Reduces Reliance on Lures🔹️
Dogs learn to focus on the behaviour and position rather than constantly watching your hands or face for guidance.

🔹️Builds Heelwork Skills🔹️
Working at your side forms the foundation of good heelwork and loose-lead walking, teaching your dog to move with you rather than pulling ahead.

🔹️Creates a Calmer Mindset🔹️
Being beside you is less confrontational than facing you directly, helping many dogs remain calmer and more relaxed.

🔹️Improves Generalisation🔹️
Dogs need to learn that cues such as sit, stay, and down apply no matter where they are positioned in relation to you.

Our Ringcraft classes are designed to prepare both you and your dog for the exciting world of the show ring.

We focus on developing the skills needed for successful competition, helping your dog learn to stand correctly, move confidently and gracefully, and remain relaxed while being examined by a judge. We also guide handlers in ring etiquette, presentation, and how to showcase their dog to the best of their ability.

Classes are structured to replicate the atmosphere of a real dog show, allowing both dogs and handlers to gain confidence and experience in a supportive environment before stepping into the ring.

What We Cover:

⭐ Stacking – Teaching your dog to stand correctly, either on the floor or on a judging table.

⭐ Examination Training – Helping your dog become comfortable being handled by unfamiliar people, including checks of the teeth, mouth, back, legs, and tail.

⭐ Gaiting & Movement – Learning how to move your dog around the ring in common show patterns such as triangles, circles, and straight lines at the correct pace.

⭐ Show Ring Socialisation – Teaching your dog to remain calm, focused, and confident around other dogs, people, and distractions commonly found at shows.

If you're interested in entering the world of dog showing, we'd love to welcome you to one of our Ringcraft sessions.

The black and tan dog is a little further along in their training journey and is an absolute stunner in the ring.❤️

🔸️Ringcraft🔸️- Where you will get specialized training that teaches you & your dog the handler skills required to compete in dog conformation shows such as Crufts.

🔸️Puppy Foundation Course (RKC GC)🔸️ - This course is designed to provide every dog & dog owner controlled socialization & puppy training techniques & skills within a safe neutral environment. It build's the confidence of you the owner, and teaches puppies basic manners and life skills both on & off leash to aid you towards a RKC Good Citizen official pass.

Encouraging your dog to use their nose and follow scents provides a fantastic natural outlet for both their energy and instincts.

Scent work delivers powerful mental stimulation, promotes relaxation, and can help dogs feel calmer and more balanced. As dogs experience the world primarily through their sense of smell, scent-based activities are among the most rewarding and enriching things we can offer them.

🐾 Mentally exhausting: Just 15–20 minutes of focused scent work can use so much brainpower that it may be equivalent to a much longer physical walk.

🐾 Builds confidence: Allowing dogs to problem-solve and use their natural abilities helps develop independence and self-assurance.

🐾 Improves focus: Scent work gives dogs a clear task to concentrate on, making it particularly beneficial for those that are reactive, anxious, or overly excitable.
