This is the 2nd short clip taken during one of this weeks sessions. In the 1st clip you can see the dog exhibiting some playfulness, a bit of hesitation & the dog showing elements of a level of being unsure about the trusty household mop.
In this 2nd clip you can the intrest levels have dialled back somewhat. You see the behaviour here start to temper down as there confidence grows & they become slowly but surly more at ease. Desensitising with simply training goes a long way with your pooch. Also you can see the owner is relaxed, engaged in general conversation & not focusing on the behaviour of the dog, this sends a strong message to the dog that "there's nothing to fear here", everything is calm & normal.
Teaching your dog to ignore everyday objects like mops & hoovers etc, is a crucial part of training for safety & aids preventing destructive behaviour. Learning to ignore these items helps them stay calm instead of building up fearful habits which can be easily triggered by loud or unfamiliar sounds and sudden movements.
This type of training helps create a more balanced self control dog rather than allowing the chase or negative reaction instinct to emerge at every opportunity. It simply helps your household dog live comfortably with every day household items & sounds, creating a well balanced, well trained calm family member without becoming stressed.
At PPDT we dont just train positions, cool tricks or the DC levels, we also train life skills which are equally as important as getting that next level rosette.
