🐶 What’s on in September! Is finally here! 🐕

Last month’s gundog retrieve club was fully booked with a waiting list, so I’ve added a regular monthly session and will be running another 2 part retrieving introduction in October. Message me if you’re interested in booking on!

All places are secured with payment, please message me if you’d like to attend 😊

At the beginning of each month you’ll see a ‘what’s on’ posted to advise of the classes/courses I’ll be offering for the next month. This will allow me to offer regular classes, to meet your requests (such as the new gundog foundation course!) and the opportunity to forward plan. 🥳

All courses are bookable by messaging the page and secured through payment. ✉️

Meet Oak! She’s my Working Labrador Puppy, who is 8 weeks old.

Today we went to the vets for the first time - she arrived in the room to her blanket, favourite toys and lickimat all set out prior, familiarity builds confidence!

Oak had a party - she played, cuddled, had a lickimat during her vaccine and spent some time exploring.

I *love* co-operative care and consent based handling. Whether your dog is nervous, super friendly or neutral - they deserve to be listened too and give consent to be handled. I use chin rests, hand touches and body positioning with the dog offering behaviour when they’re ready. If they withdraw, consent is removed.

Today we laid the foundations - Oak engaged and we handled, when she chose to play with her toys we played with her! She is a confident, outgoing puppy and the training she will have at the vets will safeguard this, build trust and prepare for any future vet interventions… And having a pretty amazing vet goes a long way!

Fantastic session with my Obedience Club tonight on extending exercises and looking at how we can train the dogs to enjoy repetition.. Here’s Ford, my favourite GSD ‘being more spaniel’ in his retrieve 😆 Good Boy Ford! 🥰

Good foundations make owning any dog more enjoyable!

Being steady, willing to work with you, patience, a clear understanding of rewards and a willingness to release articles/toys/game are all key foundations for a pet dog, and a gundog!

Crufts 2025! ⭐️

We’re so looking forward to watching our friends and clients strutting their stuff at Crufts 2025, have the most magical time and savour the moment! 🍀

Bracken and I will be with the GCDS Gold Arena and GCDS ring Team on Saturday and Sunday.

Bracken wanted to remind you all to not forget your dogs tomorrow 😉 and I wanted to say I’m so looking forward to spending the morning with 18 fabulous teams over the 3 sessions!

🐶 Please don’t arrive more than 5 minutes before your session start time. There’s a 10 minute changeover for sessions to allow for everyone to park easily.

9:30-10:20am - Bronze
10:30-11:20am - Competition Class 1
11:30-12:20pm - Competition Class 2

🐩 Please bring a range of toys and treats. For competition classes please bring a suitable retrieve article.

🐕 For Bronze classes, please bring a brush for your dog.

⭐️ Bring please a long line/puppy line if needed to ensure your dogs safety

‼️ Please give everyone space. Dogs/Handlers should always be at least 2 metres from one another, this rule makes everyone feel safe and any interactions can be observed and monitored safely.

February Sessions are all fully booked & I’m really looking forward to working with you all! 🐕

We’re working hard getting ready for Crufts 2025, and yesterday we picked up Bracken’s very sparkly collar and lead for the occasion! Bracken will be taking part in the KCGCDS Gold Award Displays in the GCDS and Main Arena Displays on Saturday and Sunday at Crufts.
