About Desmond:
Des is four years old and has taken a while to fully mature. Both his parents are fantastic agility dogs who compete at a high level, and his mother has previously won the Agility World Championships.
He is a very lovely agility dog as well as an incredible companion. He is smart minded and naturally avoids conflict, and makes thoughtful choices that allow him to move through the world easily. He loves his people and shines brightest when working with the people he loves.
He is very neutral around people he does not know. He is not fearful or worried about strangers, he just does not care to give focus to those who he does not share history.
He does get a bit uncomfortable around large dogs who go into his space or stare him down, possibly due to being charged or lunged at in the past or perhaps its just the way he is. In these situations he will simply move away behind his owner or out of the way of the dog, and is very pacifistic.
He is lovely in public and urban areas as well as on backcountry hikes. He can handle noisy, busy, and crowded areas with no issues. He works as a service dog for his handler for auditory and sensory processing disorders, Des grounds his owner and keeps her from shutting down in busy environments. His training for these tasks was very easy for him to learn. He has travelled through busy airports, as well as on trains and buses, most of the time no one knows he is even under his owners seat.
His owner has many house guests and their dogs, and he is always quite a gentleman, accepting, polite, and does not bark at them.
He is incredibly well behaved at the Veterinary clinic; he allows all examinations and procedures. He is a very nice boy which is why his owner decided to put him out for breeding.
He is very comfortable being left alone in his crate in the car, at home, and at work. However, it can take him some time to adapt to being left alone in new places and prefers to be with another dog or a person he knows, otherwise he will most likely bark.
Whilst most the time he is quiet and is like a normal non-barking dog, as is typical for the breed he is also a barker in training, in excitement, and during transitions due to anticipation, and he also barks when he thinks something fun might be happening such as one of the other dogs in the house may be going outside and he isn’t.
Specific training and patience was required to manage this barking and overarousal during training, so experience may be useful for training a dog like Desmond for sports. However, he is incredibly fun and rewarding to train and his owner considers him to be the most fun she has ever had training a dog for agility.
You may friend his owner on Facebook, Tammy Moody or on Instagram, so_much_mood if you are interested in seeing more videos and photos of Des or for any questions you may have.
Dam: Atomic od Bruzovického Kopce "Pixel"
Hips 3/4 (HD:A, OFA good)
Elbows 0/0
Patella 0/0
Eyes Clear
LTV3 VA1*
42cm, 11kg
Agility dog
Pixel has an exceptional temperament. She is a sweet, biddable and very friendly girl. She is confident with and loves both people and other dogs, and is very affectionate and loves to cuddle and give hugs. She is also generally submissive and non-confrontational with not an ounce of snark in her body.
She loves to work and has good food drive and a strong drive and grip on toys, and is fairly quiet for a mudi and rarely barks even when excited, working with a clear head and has a great off switch.
She is environmentally stable and can handle even difficult environments like discover dogs at Crufts.
*Her only fault is an LTV3 score. She is asymptomatic as confirmed by regular physiotherapy assessments and competes soundly in agility. As this is a rare breed with a small gene pool, and spine testing is currently optional with no UK spine assessment scheme, I believe she has valuable contributions to make. After reviewing data on inheritance risk when bred to a clear dog, I’ve decided to breed her a limited number of times.
