HELLO! I'm still here! 29 years old now and still going strong 😃 Can you believe I've now been retired up here on the farm in Epperstone for nine years? It's great. I live outside in my lovely field all summer, and in winter I go out in my field during the day and live in my stable at night. Perfect. My feet are good, I still have all my teeth and my coat is beautiful. I look fabulous Darlink! 😃😃 A few more grey hairs, but not as many as Mam 😃 Must dash, I'm meeting Willow for a chat over the fence. Bye for now, Blossom ###

11 August 2017. Today marks the day I passed my vetting and was bought and paid for. So it is now 18 years that I have belonged to Mam. All that is really known about my early years is that I once lived on an allotment in the Mansfield area. After that I lived for a few months at an equestrian centre which is where I met Mam and Shona. But they weren’t the first ones to think about buying me. Oh no. Before that I had gone on loan to some people so they could try me out and decide whether to buy me or not. But I knew they weren’t the right folks for me, so I was horrible and they sent me back! This actually happened TWICE. The second lot of folks sent me back the VERY NEXT DAY and said I was evil! There were unsubstantiated allegations that I had bitten someone’s mother! Of course one couldn’t possibly comment! Heh heh heh! But I was obviously brilliant at being horrible! Then Mam and Shona came along and I knew they were the right folks for me, and I’ve been pretty much on best behaviour ever since. It is often said that owners don’t choose their horses it is the horses who choose them. Mam only has to think about The Great Piebald One, presently dossing about at the retirement gig in Devon costing her a fortune, to know just how true this is! And of course we equines knew it all along! love Blossom ###

**** ELECTION BULLETIN ****
Blossom here. Five weeks of campaigning and I think it's a national scandal that not one of the major parties has mentioned the serious problem which exists of thousands of horses and ponies being abandoned and dumped each year, often in a very sorry state indeed. I'm told it is the same for dogs. I'm sure some people will say that there are far more important issues. But Mam says (and she's right about this one!) that you can tell everything you need to know about someone by the way they treat animals. Who will be our voice? I'm thinking of forming the Pony Party. Genuine pony and dog lovers welcome. ###

I think it must have been bloody Christmas again because I had my photo taken with these two and it happens every time. I used to get draped in tinsel and little golden bell thingies, but they got put in the loft a few years ago and no-one has seen them since. Shona has been in a place called Australia and says that it is a bit colder here. She brought polo mints today so that's okay. We are standing outside the stable once occupied by The Great Piebald One who has spent his first Christmas at his new retirement gig in Devon. Happy New Year! love Blossom ###

Blossom here. Tomorrow Mam is running in the Robin Hood half marathon again in Nottingham. I can’t believe she’s still doing this stuff. You’d think she’d know better at her at her age. But the other day she saw an article on the internet about runners over 60 and it referred to them as ā€˜OAP runners’. Oh dear! ā€˜I’ll give them feckin’ OAP runners’, she said, ā€˜it makes me sound like a right doddery old bag’. And she then went off on one about what they could do with ā€˜OAP runners’, where they could stuff it, and how far! I was shocked! I haven’t heard her use such language since McKinty tried to gallop round the field with his foot in a galvanised water trough, (he escaped unscathed, the big lemon). Anyway I hope it all goes well tomorrow or she’ll be going round with a face like a mile of bad road, (north east expression apparently) If it does then she might even finish first female OAP runner! But don’t tell her I said that  Keep on runnin’. Love Blossom ###

It seems summer has finally arrived today! A bit bloomin' late mind! But I am really well thanks. My coat is gleaming and showing off its beautiful roan hues, and I'm sure you'll agree that I look totally sensational (she's far too fat though - Barbara) Er, excuse me, Mam!!! I prefer the terms 'ample' and 'curvatious' if you don't mind! Not everybody wants to look like a hat rack, you know! Anyway, as I was saying . . . . . I have the field all to myself now since The Great Piebald One went off to the retirement gig in Devon. Mam misses him of course. I've seen her looking into his empty stable, and his name-plate and shoe are still on his door. But I'm not really bothered whether he's there or not. More grass for meeeeeee :-) love Blossom ###

It’s Blossom here. I thought it was high time I shared my views on the forthcoming EU referendum. (Although Mam says we will all have died of boredom before it gets here.) Of course the thorny issue is that of migration. But this is not new! There have been Irish horses and ponies coming over here for donkeys years now – stowing away on lorries, eating our hay, taking our jobs and giving the farrier a real hard time. But now it seems there is a new influx from the continent, from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. Fancy dressage horses they are, with no real skills to offer a modern society other than poncing round and round in endless circles. And what possible contribution will that make to a growing economy, eh? And everyone knows they’ve been claiming oats and carrots and sending it home to their families. And where does that leave the indigenous native population - Dartmoors, Shetlands and Welsh ponies like what I am? Anyway, that’s enough of a rant for now. Next time I will be discussing the Panama Papers and asking the question ā€˜If everything was above board, legal and MORAL, then why was the account in Panama and not down his local branch of Barclays like everyone else’s?’ Bet you can’t wait.
