Heat stroke in is a serious condition that can lead to severe health complications, and even death. It occurs when your pet’s body temperature rises above the normal range, typically due to exposure to high environmental temperatures.
Here are some signs to look out for:
🐶 Excessive panting or difficulty breathing (any panting is not normal behaviour in cats)
❤️Increased heart rate
💧Drooling
⚠️Weakness or collapse
‼️Seizures
🤢Vomiting or diarrhea
If you notice any of these signs, it's important to act quickly.
Here's what you can do:
⛱Move your pet to a cooler area immediately.
💦 Offer fresh, cool water, but don't force them to drink.
🧊Cool them down with wet towels, especially around the head and neck, and on the underbelly.
📞Call your vet as soon as possible.
Remember, heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke, seek veterinary attention immediately.
