🐾 Canine Performance & Rehabilitation – Now Open 🐾

Here’s something we’re incredibly proud to share.

We’ve spent a long time carefully developing our Canine Performance & Advanced Canine Care Programmes, with one clear focus:
treating the whole dog — not just the symptoms.

Our work is grounded in the biopsychosocial model, meaning we support dogs through:
• Musculoskeletal assessment and treatment
• Rehabilitation and functional movement
• Nutrition and weight management
• Environment, lifestyle, and mental wellbeing

Every programme is designed to look at the whole dog, supporting long-term health, comfort, and performance.

🩺 CAM Pain & Chronic Pain Practitioner Clinics

Delivered through regular monthly clinics.

This programme is designed to:
✔ Identify signs of acute and chronic pain
✔ Assess musculoskeletal health
✔ Analyse posture, gait, and functional movement
✔ Discuss environmental and lifestyle factors affecting comfort

Ideal for dogs with ongoing pain, mobility concerns, or reduced performance.

🏃 Canine Sporting & Performance Programme

A true passion of ours.

Coming from a sporting and performance background, we understand that optimal performance requires the full picture — training, rest, recovery, conditioning, and nutrition.

This programme includes:
✔ Performance-focused assessments
✔ Sport-specific conditioning advice
✔ Nutritional guidance for sporting dogs
✔ Hands-on treatments including clinical massage and osteopathy to improve flexibility and joint mobility

🐶 Puppy Foundations Programme

Helping puppies get the best possible start in life.

This programme supports:
✔ Age-appropriate fitness and play
✔ Mental development and confidence
✔ Early movement education
✔ Nutritional guidance during growth stages

Designed to reduce future injury risk and build strong lifelong foundations.

⚖️ Weight Management Clinics

Weight management underpins everything we do.

We understand how challenging this can be — and we want to be clear:
there is no judgement in our clinic.

We work together to:
✔ Assess body condition fairly and compassionately
✔ Provide practical nutritional education
✔ Support sustainable weight loss or maintenance
✔ Help dogs return to a healthy body condition

🐕‍🦺 Our aim is simple:
To help dogs move better, feel better, and live better — at every stage of life.

New harnesses. Exciting

✨Canine Harness Fitting at East Midlands Clinical Canine Massage✨
For those of you who know me well, know how excited I get to try a new dog harness and how much I spend on them🤣.
I spend much of my time in clinical practice explaining the benefits of a harness to my clients and how the area around the dog’s neck is so vulnerable, and a lead and collar (esp. if your dog pulls) can cause so many issues in you dog’s neck and effect their mobility leading to musculoskeletal issues.

🌟It’s so important to find the right fit, and the right harness for your dogs activity🌟

I do get so excited when a new harness is on the market, and I’m always assessing how it fits, how it changes our dogs gait and how comfortable it is for our dogs.
So excited to buy and try two new harness

1. Artic Wolf X-Back Harness. Brand new harness for our use for the dog sports of canicross, bikejoring, dog scootering and dry-land mushing
2. Non-Stop line harness grip for hiking, tracking and everyday activities.

Think you’ll agree they look and fit well. I’ll keep you all posted on how we get on with them.

I’m always happy to go through harness fitting East Midlands Clinical Canine Massage and happy to check the fit and check your dogs gait if you want advice.

🐕A great morning spent teaching Monty his Canine Conditioning Programme. Had so much fun with him, he’s such an intelligent dog, and learns so quickly.

👏🏻Super proud of Freddie

🌟Canine conditioning for your pet dog🌟
🐕Meet Freddie a 5 year old Goldie with a double hip replacement.

During Freddie’s assessment I noticed:-
🐾Freddie was “roached” can you see how he stands with his back legs tucked under him in the first picture?
🐾His posture when standing was poor- he had a left sided lateral rotation or as his owners put it “stands like a banana”
🐾He had poor back end strength and struggled to sit/stand
🐾He struggled stepping out to his right. His right muscles around his right medial thigh (adductors) were weak.

Freddie’s owners enrolled in July for a foundation conditioning programme. Two months later and we’ve been amazed at the results. He’s like a different dog. We’ve noticed:-
💪🏻He has greater core strength which means he is standing much more squarer, he’s better balanced and no longer roached. (Second picture)

💪🏻Fitter - stronger. He has gained hind limb strength and stronger on his right side too.

💪🏻He’s lost weight and size around his chest and loin BUT gained size around his pelvic limbs.

💪🏻 Freddie has gained strength in back end and now improved his technique when he goes for his regurlar swims. Freddie’s owners showed me videos of him swimming before and after his canine conditioning programme. The difference is unbelievable.
💪🏻Before he started the programs during his swimming sessions he wasn’t using his hind limbs as much, and as a result was almost sinking in the water. After CC, because he has gained strength in his back end, he is using his back legs to swim and as a result is a much stronger swimmer.

👩🏻‍🎓So your dog does not have to be a canine athlete to benefit from Canine Conditioning. Keeping your pet dog fit is just as important so that our dogs can have the best life possible.

✨Being fit creates a more healthy and happy dog to enjoy all the things they love to do!✨

💪🏻 Canine conditioning is an effective and fun way to keep your dogs fit and healthy. The fitness work is ideal for sporting dogs, dogs coming back from surgery or injury, older dogs, pet dogs, - in fact benefits all of our canine friends. ✨ Agility and Canine Conditioning✨

🌟Have you considered that your dog may benefit from a tailored canine conditioning programme? Agility is a demanding sport; high speeds, sharp turns, demanding obstacle requirements, it requires a great deal of fitness and core strength from your dog. Sport specific training alone does not make an athlete! Core conditioning prepares the dog's body for the demands of the sport.

Sport specific training alone does not make an athlete! Core conditioning prepares the dog's body for the demands of the sport. A Canine fitness programme will:-

🐕 Identify and implement exercises that improve your dog's strength, power, stamina, speed, cardio endurance, flexibility and body awareness.
🐕 Develop a “critical eye” for evaluating your dog’s strengths and work on their muscular weaknesses to help improve their performance.
🐕 Help to minimize the risk of injury in your dog, helping your dog have a long, happy, and productive sporting life.

🐕 Meet Loki, the French Bulldog, he’s just started his Foundation Conditioning Programme, I must say I’ve been amazed at his fitness. He has really good core strength and great back end awareness already. The owners want to keep him in great shape and improve his fitness, so have started a conditioning programme tailored for Loki.

🌟Your dog does not have to be a canine athlete to benefit from Canine Conditioning. Keeping your pet dog fit is just as important so that your dogs can have the best life possible.

🐾Does you dog play ?
🐾Does you dog swim?
🐾Does your dog run/jump around?
🐾Does your dog hike or go for long walks?
🐾Does your dog chase squirrels ?

If you dog does any of these things and they aren’t physically fit, they have a risk injury to their muscles, and these can vary from relatively minor, to very serious, like torn ligaments and hip injuries that can result in surgery and life-long disabilities.

Dog injuries are more common than most people are aware and can often occur when your dog is just doing the “normal” things in their life.

Being fit creates a more healthy and happy dog to enjoy all the things they love to do!

🐕What a great week. Aslan (AKA SKIPMYRE MAJESTIC STAR), started his foundation conditioning training programme to help with his performance in Working Trials and help reduce the risk of injury.

👩🏻‍🎓Conditioned dogs perform better, and are less likely to suffer injuries, and if injury does occur they are less severe, and recovery is faster.

👩🏻‍🎓By undertaking an appropriate fitness and conditioning programme, you can better prepare your dog’s body to undertake the tasks you ask of it. If your dog has the right strength, balance and flexibility they will be able to adjust itself better, handle more difficult tasks easier both of which may lead to better performance but more importantly reduce the risk of injury.

🏆 The Canine Conditioning Programme helps improve your dogs stamina and longevity, creating a win–win situation for both dog and handler. If you would like to book or discuss how canine conditioning can help your performance dog, my details are below. ⬇️
