SQUIRREL!!!!!! Dogs love a good chase especially when it’s a little fluffy squeaky thing but it’s not always appropriate. If you want this level of recall and control even around the biggest distractions drop me a message

I’ve had few customers talk to me about resource guarding and they’ve shockingly been given advice “it’s normal” “well they are animals” and “lock them in a separate room to eat”, this frustrates me as it’s dangerous and straight up wrong. Ruby and Alfie don’t live together but can eat nose to nose with no issues (rose even goes next to Alfie for a cheeky drink) with the right leadership you can have a well balanced family setup where all your dogs can enjoy a calm peaceful mealtime

100% something all dog owners should do, you don’t think you need it until you do. Fun story my dog Alfie developed epilepsy later in life and it was the skills I learnt in first aid that helped me deal with it in the right way meaning he recovered quickly and the vets had everything they needed to help get him sorted.

We are so pleased to now be providing the ONLY regulated canine emergency first aid course, developed by the IPET Network ⛑

It's great to see more places becoming pet friendly but it's important that doing so doesn't result in negative outcomes like dog fights, damaged goods in shops or assistance dogs being distracted.

To help make having dogs accessing more places safe for everyone I’ve got a couple of things for you do consider/do before taking your pooch out.

I’m seeing this more and more recently, please do your research before getting a dog or ask an expert for advice. This is especially important when it comes to working breeds or dogs from working stock, it’s not just a title it means something.

Just one guy walking two puppies perfectly, dogs spend a lot of time on their leads so let’s make sure they are doing it well

Let’s play a little game, I nearly hit a dog with my car today and it was on a lead. Was she walking her dog in the road? Did I hope the curb? No it was on a bloody extendable lead at full length near a busy main road.

Me and most other good dog trainers biggest pet peeve is people who walk their dog on extendable leads and this is why…

1. They encourage dogs to pull (especially if used with the wrong type of harness but that’s a rant for another day).
2. The only way to shorten them is to pull back unless the dog is already walking back. This can encourage/trigger reactivity.
3. Sometimes we think the catch is on and it’s not. So many dogs have been hit by cars after they’ve seen something and ran out with the owner unable to stop them.
4. If you accidentally drop the lead the plastic handle will chase the dog and be very noisy scaring them thinking they are being chased running off, often without being found or the worst being hit by a car.
5. They often injure other walkers and dogs and some of the injuries can be horrific ( I’ve had a customer who lost a finger).

I could go on but this should be enough. Just use a regular lead and a long training line for safe outdoor fun, yeah they can be fiddly but they are a million times better.

Really enjoy working with this stunning boy, Peblo picks everything up so quickly and is always up for a challenge. He’s showing some great impulse control (off lead) after only one session
