Struggling with separation anxiety training because your dog just won’t settle to train? 👀
It’s not that the training “isn’t working” — it’s often about when and how you’re doing it.
If your dog is excited, playful, or full of energy when you start a session, you are likely missing something!
Here are a few common factors that can throw things off:
🐾 Time of day – Trying to train during your dog’s most alert hour, near walks or feed time? You’re setting yourself up for frustration.
🐾 Unmet needs – Physical exercise, mental stimulation, and enrichment matter. An under-stimulated dog can’t relax.
🐾 Overtired dogs – On the flip side, a dog that’s exhausted can become wired and unable to settle.
🐾 Environment – Too much noise, distractions, or household activity can keep arousal levels high.

💡 Tips to improve your sessions:
✔️ Aim for training when your dog is naturally calmer, think about time of day!
✔️ Meet their needs before you start
✔️ Keep sessions short and achievable
✔️ Track data! You can learn what’s working by keeping track of the above
