I've got to say I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling the cold! 🥶
Just like us, our pets feel the cold and those with arthritis can feel worse in cold weather- they may seem stiffer or less enthusiastic to go on walks, play, or do every day activities such as climbing the stairs.
Lovely Cupid here is seen for the management of arthritis through photobiomodulation therapy, soft tissue mobilisation and an exercise program to keep him his happy self 🐾

Barney Bear is seen for degenerative myelopathy- a condition that causes loss of proprioception/sensation and paralysis. We're working to keep him going with regular sessions and making adjustments where needed- if you look closely, you can see his little boot to stop his toes from scuffing when he walks 🐕

Lovely to see some fantastic work from Ritter! 🐕
He is seen for maintenance sessions to keep him in tip top condition. Exercises like these are not only great for their minds, but also fantastic for encouraging proper movement and increasing proprioceptive awareness- that is, the ability to sense where your limbs are 🐾

🐾 Gait Analysis- What is it? 🐾

Gait analysis is a crucial part of my assessment which involves looking at how your animal moves, including how they move when walking and trotting. By observing our animal's movement closely we can then look for abnormalities or areas that need attention and can further explore them. Together, I can then make a bespoke treatment plan and set goals for improvement- whether it be increasing movement in a joint or encouraging a dog to distribute its weight more evenly 🐶

Thought I'd show my face for a change!
Despite being qualified for a few years, I'd never actually had a graduation due to both COVID and deferring studies. So this week should have been graduation week for me... until laryngitis got in the way. 😂
Luckily I have a lovely partner and lovely friends that organised a 'graduation' as I couldn't be there on the day. So, cheers everyone! Have a fantastic weekend. 🐾

And here's Monty taking his first few steps in his new supports 🐾

Although a bit wobbly, they provide support to his tarsal joints which will keep him comfortable on walks and while he's doing his exercises 😎

Behold.... the smallest braces I've made to date. 🥹

Custom made braces (like this tiny pair for Monty!) can help to provide support after injury, an operation or simply to keep them comfortable on walks as they enter their golden years 🐾
