Dog Enrichment🐶
Dog enrichment is all about keeping your pup’s mind and body active. Just like us, dogs can get bored and that boredom can lead to unwanted behaviours like chewing, barking, or restlessness.
✨Some great enrichments include :
• Puzzle toys and treat games - these are brilliant for helping relieve anxiety and stress if they struggle to be left, encourages problem solving and can help slow down fast eaters if used at meal times.
• Hard chews - Helps reduce plaque and tartar buildup, promotes healthier gums, keeps dog mentally engaged and can reduce anxiety when left. Always choose the right size chew for your dog and please DO NOT use anything including rawhide.
• Ice cubes - Low calorie and cost effective enrichment, many dogs enjoy the texture and sound of crunching ice or chasing them across hard floors. You can make them more engaging by freezing low-sodium broth, carrots, or blueberries inside too. Should be given appropriate sizes to avoid choking and DO NOT give ice to a dog suffering from heatstroke.
• Walks - One of the best enrichments for a dog is their walks, letting your dog explore the world through their nose with new routes and environments. Encouraging social interactions and play is also great enrichment for your dog.
• Training/Mental challenges - Boosts cognitive health especially important as dogs age, builds impulse control like waiting and staying calm around distractions, improves communication between you and your dog.
If you’re out the house long hours and feel your dog could benefit from more mental stimulation then get into contact with us, we provide your dog with highly enriched walks going to new places regularly and have the opportunity to play with other dogs. We’re also more than happy to give your dog a chew or a lick mat provided after their walk if that’s part of their routine, while they wait for you to come home🦮🐶🤍
