Update: Spud is home β€οΈβπ©Ή
In true Spuddy style his injury turned out to be a whole lot more complicated than expected. We already knew that he had ruptured a ligament in his shoulder, but pre op CT scans & joint scope also revealed extensive damage to his bicep tendon, and multiple tears of the muscle itself.
The original plan was to replace his ruptured ligament with a synthetic one in order to stabilise the tendon, but this plan was scrapped as the tendon was beyond saving. The vets opted to fully cut his tendon and stabilise the limb with a cast for 6 weeks, followed by lots of physio & hydrotherapy to build his muscles back up.
While his joint is considerably weaker now, he is expected to regain full movement of the limb; despite losing his bicep ligament & tendon!
He's in surprisingly good spirits this evening and currently showing no signs of pain, hes just very tired π΄
Thank you all for your concern and kind words. He cant wait till he can zoom around with his pack again π₯°
