✨ A little update from me ✨

Firstly, I want to say sorry for being a little quiet on here recently. My daughter has just started school, which has been such a big (and emotional!) milestone for us.

Behind the scenes I’ve still been busy grooming lots of gorgeous cats 🐾, but I’ve not been posting as much as I’d like.

The good news is… I’m back! You’ll be seeing more updates, fluffy faces, and cat care tips popping up here again. Plus, I’m now on top of my admin, so if you’ve been waiting to hear from me, I’ll be getting back to everyone’s enquiries ASAP.

✨ A Little Heads Up ✨

It’s the summer holidays, which means life is a little busier (and noisier!) than usual here at home. With my daughter starting school next month, this is a special and slightly chaotic time for us!

You and your lovely cats, are still very important to me, and all cats are being cared for as usual. It’s just messages and phone calls that I may be a little slower to respond to right now, as there’s not much admin going on here!

Just a little hello from me…

I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been busy doing what I love most, caring for your beautiful cats and guinea pigs!🐾

Running Purrfectly Groomed Cats is more than just a job to me. It’s something I pour my heart into, and every single animal I meet leaves a little paw print on it. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I do and I couldn't do it without you guys!

To each of you who has trusted me with your cat, supported my small business, recommended me, left me a review or even just sent a kind message, thank you. Your support means the world. Truly.

I know grooming can be a big thing for some cats, especially those who are nervous or have had bad experiences before. That’s why I take it slow, work gently, and always aim to make every visit as stress free as possible, with patience, kindness, and a lot of love 💕

From Tense to Trusting – Milou’s Grooming Journey 💜

When I first met Milou, he was so tense we could barely get through his groom.

He’d had a negative experience in a previous grooming salon, and it really showed. He was anxious, defensive and didn’t feel safe. I never push cats to “just get on with it,” so we stopped early and focused on building trust instead.

Fast forward to now… Milou is a different cat. We can complete the full groom, he's noticeably more relaxed and dare I say it, he even seems to enjoy it!

This is what patient, holistic grooming is all about. Helping them feel safe again, one calm session at a time.

"Should I get my cat clipped for summer to keep them cool or stop shedding?”

It’s a question I hear every year… and the honest answer is.. No, not unless it’s necessary for welfare or health.

Here’s why...

☀️ Your cat’s coat is clever. It acts as natural insulation, keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer. Clipping it can mess with their ability to regulate temperature.

🧬 Moulting is natural. Clipping won’t stop shedding. In fact, it can lead to uneven regrowth, coat damage, or worse, clipper alopecia (where the hair doesn’t grow back properly).

😿 Shaving is only recommended when the coat is matted, medical reasons i.e hairball issues, or the cat can’t be groomed safely any other way. It’s a last resort, not a seasonal style.

Here’s how I ended up doing what I do…

I never set out to become a cat groomer, but now, I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else.

Since I was little, I’ve always loved animals and knew I wanted to work with them. I started out working in a kennels and cattery, then moved into animal rescue and that’s where I discovered my real passion.. cats!

I gave dog grooming a go, but it just didn’t feel right. Then, after having my little girl, I was lucky enough to land a job in a cat grooming salon. That’s when everything clicked, I realised this is where I’m meant to be.

What began as curiosity, has turned into years of hands on experience. Along the way, I’ve seen just how misunderstood cats can be, especially when it comes to grooming. I’ve found something really special in being their advocate.

Fast forward to today, I’ve built a business focused solely on cats. It’s not always easy, but every time a nervous cat relaxes with me, or an owner tells me how much happier their cat is after grooming, I get that reminder.. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

I’m so glad I trusted my gut and took the leap. 💕

“Why is my cat matted?"

This is something I hear a lot from owners.

The truth is, most cats don’t tolerate being brushed at home. Add to that thick coats, shedding seasons, busy lives and mats can form before you know it.

When I meet a matted cat, I never judge. I focus on helping them feel safe and comfortable, gently working through the coat in a way that’s as low stress as possible. Sometimes that means clipping the coat short, not for looks, but for comfort and welfare.

I’m a strong advocate for cat neutering.
After years in rescue, I’ve seen too many heartbreaking cases, unwanted litters, exhausted mums and kittens left to fend for themselves. But it's not just the females that suffer.

Unneutered males often live short, harsh lives, constantly fighting, picking up nasty infections, getting hit by cars while roaming, and living in a constant state of stress. They deserve better.

Neutering doesn’t just prevent kittens, it saves lives and improves quality of life. This video might be a bit graphic, but education matters. This is how we stop the cycle. 💔🐾
