1 dog year = 7 human years isn’t actually true!

Dogs age very differently depending on their size, breed, and stage of life. In fact, your puppy’s first couple of years age much faster than you might think!

You can tell when someone truly understands your dog, because your dog starts believing it too.

Indie is an absolute fireball full of energy, but underneath that was also a lot of nerves and uncertainty. She needed calm, settled dogs around her to help show her that being part of a pack could feel safe, calm, and fun rather than overwhelming.

Everything was done at her pace with patience, reassurance, and no pressure.

Now seeing her relax, enjoy herself, and let her personality shine through has been so rewarding.

No dog owner wants to see a heatwave on the forecast!

This week’s walks have looked a little different with early morning strolls, shady sniffy adventures, pet visits, cool collars, water fun, and lots of water breaks to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

The funniest part has definitely been the confused looks on the dogs’ faces when I turned up and didn’t pick up the lead! 😂

Thank you to all my lovely clients for being so flexible with the schedule changes this week, the dogs and I have really appreciated it. Thankfully it’s looking much cooler next week so we can get back to our normal shenanigans!

One of the most important bits of kit I use… my longline.

No dog that starts with me goes straight off lead, even if an owner says their recall is perfect. Every dog needs to prove it first.

Some owners also prefer their dogs to never be fully off lead but still want them to have freedom to sniff, explore and enjoy their walks safely. A longline is perfect for that.

Simple bit of kit, huge difference for safety and confidence on walks.

“No harm in just one, is there?”

That’s how most BBQ accidents start.

Bank holidays, BBQs, and dogs all go hand in hand, but this is something I see catch people out every year.

It’s never intentional, just a dropped bit of food or a “little treat” from someone, but it can quickly turn into a vet visit.

Things like fatty meat, corn cobs and skewers can cause real problems for dogs.

It’s always safest to keep BBQ food well away from them.

If you’ve got a BBQ planned this weekend, keep this in mind and help keep your dog safe.
