Recycle for Hallswood Animal Sanctuary

Recycle your chocolate, sweet, biscuits and cracker tubs to raise funds for Macmillan cancer support. Drop them off at your nearest Greene King pub, click on the link to find out where to go.

Greene King is running its successful Tub2Pub initiative again in the new year so customers can recycle their empty plastic confectionery and crackers tubs, saving waste from landfill and raising money for charity.

PLEASE READ - VERY IMPORTANT - It is with regret that the present team will be finishing with the recycling from Friday 3rd January 2025. My own health is not 100% at the moment and I have been advised to take a break, my co-volunteers who assist me - Ashley, Jenny and Mel also have personal commitments which are taking up their free time. The TerraCycle schemes have changed a lot in the past 12 months with a lot stopping and going over to the Supermarkets, e.g. Crisps, KP Nuts, Popcorn, Chocolate & Sweets.

The FINAL date to drop off your recycling at our collection points is Friday 3rd January, after that the bins will be removed (unless another group of people wish to take it over from us).

Please ensure you drop off your recycling by this date. We can accept the following items until then

Aqua Optima Water Filters
Babybel packaging
Bread Bags and related bread products in plastic packaging
Biscuit Wrappers
Cheese Pouches
Dental - toothbrushes & electric toothbrush head, floss containers
Dishwasher Pouches
Food Storage/Reusable Plastic Bottles
Kinder/Ferrero Rocher wrappers
Lavazza Coffee Eco Caps
Marigold Gloves & Packaging
Pringles Tubes & Seals - metal based ones ONLY
Warburtons Wax Wraps

Hallswood will continue to accept the inkjet cartridges, postage stamps, Foreign & English currency, Cameras, Sat Navs, Jewellery, Games Consoles at their charity shops or the Pet Sanctuary in the Dixon Centre at Hellesdon.

Over the past 5-6 years we've raised a lot from peoples rubbish and we thank you all for your support for saving it for us, but its time for us to put up our gloves and take a break.

Thorpe Plant Centre - we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Judith who has kindly been emptying our collection bins for us for some time now. Today was Judith's last day in this voluntary role and we would like to say how much we've appreciated her help. If anyone else would like to take on this role for us, then please get in touch, it would require emptying the two bins once/twice a month and then delivering to either myself or Ashley.🙂

Thorpe Plant Centre - we would like to say a big thank you to Judith for emptying our collection bins here for us, her contribution has been much appreciated. If anyone else would like to step in and take over this role, it involves a trip to TPC approximately one/twice a month, sort out contents and deliver to either myself at Taverham, Ashley in Horsford.

EARTHGLADE - please note that this collection bin is being removed on the 27th November, so please deposit your recycling by Tuesday 26th November at the very latest. Earthglade will still be collecting recycling for us when they are at the Market in Aylsham. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Dave and Szara for having a collection point at Phoenix Yard for the past few years.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ - Due to changes on this particular scheme it has been decided to leave it and no longer collect coffee or tea packaging as TerraCycle are no longer collecting the coffee pouches and they are mainly what we receive.

PLEASE DO NOT drop any more off at the collection points, shop at Mile cross or Pet Sanctuary as we can no longer send it off for recycling, please take to the Supermarket instead.

⚠️Unfortunately the KP crisps/nuts/popcorn/pretzel scheme will be finishing at TerraCycle as the sponsorship by the manufacturer KP is ending! 😪

⚠️Please drop off the last of your packets to the collection points, Hallswood Shop at Mile Cross, Pet Sanctuary at Dixon Centre by Saturday 23rd NOVEMBER at the very latest.⚠️ After this date please take them directly to the supermarket and recycle with their plastic packaging.

Writing Equipment scheme, pens, felt tip pens, highlighters, tippex bottles can be taken directly to the Ryman store on London Street, Norwich, Ryman, 61 London Street, NR2 1HL.

Please DO NOT put them in the Hallswood bins.

PLEASE READ - The writing equipment scheme which we've been collecting for the past few years is finishing very soon, please do not take any writing equipment, felt tip pens, tippex etc to the collection bins with immediate effect. TerraCycle will be working with select retail stores to enable people to continue to recycle these in future, as yet we do not know which ones it will be, but will let you know when we have more details.

PLEASE READ - We're having some issues with the collection point at The Rosebery Pub in Norwich.

Firstly we received six bags of lids which are of no use to us, they're not included in the Terracycle Schemes which we are members off.

Secondly we've had some unpleasant items placed in the bins eg dirty nappies, half eaten food, cans of drink half full. We know it's not our recycing supporters putting these in the bins. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an alternative position for the bins as previously against the other wall they were getting unwanted items.

If anyone knows of an alternative location not too far from The Rosebery who we could approach then please let us know.

Balloons & Bakes based on Catton Chase in Old Catton, Norwich, NR6 7AS can now accept all brands of foil balloons and foil air walkers, plus plastic packaging for these two items and foil banners and sashes. They DO NOT take decorative banners on ribbon, sticks for holding min air-filled balloons, ribbons or weights for holding balloons or any other party accessory. PLEASE take/send directly to them only.

The coffee scheme has recently changed and includes tea packaging, see poster. Thanks for continuing to support Hallswood Animal Sanctuary. (Please remember the beauty, chocolate/sweet & colgate toothpaste schemes have all finished, see the Philips Dental scheme for items we can still accept)🙂
