Our view from the windows looks a little different now. The fields have all been harvested and are full of beautiful round bales. 🌾

It can only mean one thing... harvest is finished! We really are so lucky to have such a beautiful view like this. Just look at that blue sky! ☀️💙

🐾❄️ Keeping your dogs cool in the hot weather ❄️🐾

It’s lovely and cool in the salon today thanks to our air conditioning — we’ve even had to turn the fan down because it was getting a little bit chilly! 😏

Our phone has been ringing non-stop with lots of worried owners concerned that their dogs are getting too hot in this weather.

We completely understand but don't panic.

While we are doing our best to fit everyone in, our appointments are currently very busy and we do have a waiting list.

In the meantime, here are some simple tips that may help keep your dog cooler at home:

💧 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.

🐾 Dogs don’t sweat like we do — they mainly cool themselves down by panting, but they do sweat a small amount through their paw pads. Cooling their feet in cool (not ice-cold) water can help, and gently wetting their tummy area where there is less fur may also help them feel more comfortable.

🛏️ Give them a cool place to rest — move beds away from warm sunny spots and consider cooling mats or cooler surfaces.

🌳 Provide plenty of shade and avoid exercise during the hottest parts of the day.

🧊 Frozen treats or ice cubes in their water can be a fun way to help them cool down.

🚗 Never leave your dog in a car, even for a short time.

🔥 Remember pavements can become dangerously hot and can burn paw pads — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet!

The nerves are definitely being felt in the salon today!

Sophie and I will be getting all the football tunes on in the salon today to get us in the spirit before England take on Argentina tonight!

I’ve had my England bunting proudly up along the car park fence throughout the whole tournament, and my St George’s crosses have been flying proudly too… and I’m starting to think they might just be my lucky flags! 🤞

So hopefully they can hold on for just a little longer and help get us all the way to the final! 🏆

It’s going to be a huge game and we’re feeling nervous, but come on England… give it everything you’ve got! ❤️🤍💙

🎶 Another one bites the dust… literally

Poor little Millie

(affectionately known here as “Pink Nose” because of her adorable little pink nose 🩷)

came in with an unwanted hitchhiker today 😅 Luckily it was a quick and safe removal, and our little princess was as brave as ever 👑🐶

Millie usually visits us with her sister Molly… lovingly nicknamed “Brown Nose” 🤎😂
(not quite as glamorous, but equally as loved!)

A little reminder to keep up with your flea & tick prevention, especially this time of year as we’re already seeing quite a few 👀

Our honest advice? Please go to your vet for your flea & tick prevention.
In our opinion, the over-the-counter products just don’t cut it. Yes, the vet products can cost a little more, but they actually work — so you pay once and get it done properly.

Buying cheaper products from the shelf can be a false economy… you end up spending money repeatedly and often getting a product that doesn't work effectively.

You may as well save your pennies and get a product the will work the first time.

💡 Top tip: if you’re only going to the vet for flea & tick prevention, book with the nurse rather than the vet — most practices can do this without a consultation fee (always nice to save a few pounds! 😉). Most vets also have scales in the waiting room, so you can make sure your pet gets the correct dose.

And remember — we keep tick removers here on the shelf, and we sell them as a handy little set for just £1 👏

So if you ever spot one and feel unsure about removing it, just give us a ring.

You’re always welcome to pop in free of charge, and we’ll happily help remove it or give advice on how to keep these little nasties away 🪳🚫🐶

So today while the salon was closed today, we had a big behind-the-scenes upgrade…

and yes, it involves Sweaty Sophie’s official retirement!! Yay lol

We’ve had proper air conditioning installed in the salon!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Our old portable air con unit really did try its best. Fair play to it, but on the really hot days last year it was basically just blowing warm air around while we all slowly melted 🥵

We were struggling on those really hot days… and even with little welfare breaks for the dogs and us with the heat of the dryers it was just getting a bit too much at times 🐾💛

The dog hair would cling to us by the end of the day, making us look like wolf women. 🐺✂️

By the end of it we just felt so itchy and uncomfortable (it was honestly just nasty 🫣).

We can’t wait for you all to come and feel the difference, and hopefully now everyone can just be a lot more comfortable in the salon and at the right temperature 💛🐶

So this upgrade will sadly bring an end to the Sweaty Sophie era and the “wolf woman dog groomers” 😂

Chester the Airedale was in for his regular groom today 🐾✨ Always a pleasure to have this handsome boy on the table!

We kept his look sharp and true to his breed with a combination of hand stripping on the body to maintain coat texture, clipping on the legs, and full sc******ng to refine his shape and bring those classic lines back. Safe to say he’s looking as smart as ever! 🐶✂️

He did treat us to one of his signature performances too 🎶 — Chester gets a little excited on the table and absolutely loves to “sing” along to the radio… never a dull moment with this one! 😄
