We’ve always said we like to be open and honest about sanctuary life, even if it’s not always sunshine and rainbows!
Well part of sanctuary life is waking up at 3am with the strong urge to check the security cameras to find that your old special cares are being terrified by some sort of distorted barking…
Dog, fox, deer, something else?
Didn’t matter, it was upsetting my sheepies!
Thankfully I’m only a few minutes away from special care so I jumped out of bed and went to fight off whatever creature was scaring my animals!
Turns out two muntjacs were having a rather intense argument outside the sheeps bedroom…. I shouted at them to get lost and they stood there staring at me… proceeded to carry on their verbal abuse for another 30 minutes before they finally got going. There is a strip of “no man’s land” between us and the marshland so I couldn’t get closer than 20ft to scare them off, and didn’t fancy another gored knee, as anyone who’s had experience with deer knows, although mostly timid, they can have their moments of being very aggressive!
Thankfully all is calm and quiet here now, and I’m going home for a cup of tea and a couple more hours sleep before I’ll be back to sort breakfasts 😅

This year we have been massively struggling to get in enough winter hay for the sheep. Prices have doubled because of a very low yield hay harvest this year due to the weather, the shortage resulting in availability becoming scarce. This has made it nearly impossible to fund winter forage for the animals. With hay being their main food source, and them getting through a large round bale every four days through the winter, it’s really hitting us hard.
Having to pay double what we used to for hay has been utterly crippling financially and mentally with the stress of not knowing it we’ll be able to get hay. So we are asking for your help, to keep the sheep happy and well fed for the winter months.
With a wrapped round bale costing us around £60-70 each at the moment, and each lasting around four days, you can see how difficult this is becoming!!
Your help is massively appreciated, we hope to reach our goal so we can take some of the pressure off this winter, and keep our beloved sanctuary residents happy and healthy
We hate having to ask for financial help from you wonderful people so many times in the last few months, but sadly the cost of hay being so high is causing many sanctuaries and farms to close and try to rehome their animals. We desperately do not want to become one of these.

Update on Clover- After her ear amputation Clover has healed up so well! Stitches came out last week and Clover is back out as normal with her friends.
She is much more comfortable and happier now that her poorly ear is gone, and we think she’s still a beautiful girl 🖤

Hope everyone is feeling happy and merry this Christmas Eve-eve! We think that Hansel has made the good list for giving out the most kissies this year! And Clover has made the good list as well for being such a brave girl for her ear removal!
Ruby dog and Harry however are on the naughty list!! Ruby climbed up the counter and stole some donuts last night, and Harry has decided that it’s an extra fun game to Boof his mummies an aunty up the bum when they’re not looking! Very cheeky! Maybe as they’re so cute Santa will still get them a gift 😉

SOS 😩😩😩
I’m so so sorry for yet another Scrambled Beg On Toast, but we’re having our hardest year to date. The price of hay has doubled and we need to find £300 by tomorrow to pay for hay over Christmas!
The weather has really screwed farmers this year and hay/haylage yield is down. This is our sheep’s man source of food! If anyone can spare a few pounds we would be so grateful!
