So a couple people have told me recently that the page and posts are really depressing, which is fair as they are. Things have been unprecedentedly tough since the end of last year, and I’ve definitely found myself feeling far more down than normal.
So instead, here are 4 pictures from this week that have made me smile!
1. Mika my elderly goat sticking her tongue out!
2. Ruby dog having a real good snooze on one of my mums good pillows (yes mum was livid 😅)
3. Three of the “chicks” looking very photogenic the other morning. (I will post their official names soon!)
4. Athena one of my oldest sheepies pulling this face during her special dinner!

Things are still hard, in fact I’m writing post sat in the doctors waiting room as I’ve been not well recently, but it’s important to not lose sight of the little things that bring joy ✨

Tomorrow marks a week of having no Starry Starness by my side. I’m currently sat up the top of the field watching the full buck moon rising, and I feel it’s been so long since I was able to hold his little face and kiss him, and at the same time it feels like he hasn’t gone anywhere at all….
This photo was taken 4 years ago today. The bond me and Star share is the most amazing thing I’ve experienced; that’s why I’m ok.
I thought that the day Star died would be the day I finally called it a day for myself, I didn’t see a way I’d live without him. But laying there on the floor in the shed that morning, with Star in my arms, feeling the most immense grief crushing me, I had one thought that pushed through; Do it for Starbah, you’ve got no choice.
And I really didn’t have any choice but to get up, because when I look around me, even in that soul destroying moment, I saw the faces of the sheep who still look to me for everything. For food, for water, for shelter, for scratches in just the right place, for comfort, for safety, for happiness, and I knew that I’d never be able to turn my back on them. This is why I’m alive, this is Star’s legacy.
Tomorrow I have to go and pick up his ashes, which is filling me with equal parts dread and peace. It will hurt so much but I’ll have my boy back with me.
I’m not going to lie, aside from all the emotional toll of Star and Hansel passing within days of each other, it’s taken a financial toll too. I still owe £50 for Hansels cremation and now £200 for Star.
If anyone can help with donations towards the sanctuary bills then I would be so eternally grateful. I know I’ve asked a lot recently, but god things are hard. Any little helps so much.
Thank you all for being here to be part of Star’s legacy ✨

I always knew that this day would come, but nothing could have ever prepared me.
Today is the day I lost my soulmate. Today I walked into the yard like I do everyday, and I found Star dead.
I can’t find the words to describe the agony, shock, despair and utter hopelessness that has been crashing over me like waves since.
If I’d of had the means at that moment then I would have followed him without a doubt, because how am I meant to keep waking up every day and putting one foot in front of the other if I have to do it without Star?
But thank the gods for my beautiful friend Krista who came without question to hold me up, because without her I really don’t know how I would of gotten up off the floor of the sheep shed, I’m not sure I would have.
Through the soul destroying grief I was feeling, she said something which pulled me back from the edge and grounded me. Yes, losing Star is like having my soul torn out of my chest, and for how many lives I’ve grieved for this is going to be a wound which may never heal, and then I heard “but what a legacy he’s left behind “.
F**k, if that hasn’t been the phrase that’s kept me from the brink all day… because it’s true. This is Star’s legacy, this isn’t something I started on a whim, or that I can turn my back on. These animals are my whole world, my life’s purpose, my entire reason for being. Each and every one of them is safe and happy because of a little bonk lamb with an overbite who made me brave enough to chase my dream of having a sheep sanctuary.
Today truly feels like my darkest hour, but I have no choice but to keep getting up and keep going. I don’t know how I’m going to keep living without my twin flame, but Star lives on in the sanctuary and all the animals that I have and will help. He lives in my heart and in every step I keep taking. He lives on in the next life, and I know that he’s keeping watch over my soul just as he had in this life.
Star, my true love, my soulmate, my everything, my Starry Bahness, Dah, Blimp, Overbite-boy; you saved me again and again and even in death you continue to save me. I will carry on until it’s time for us to be together again, I will do it for you.

Hello from me and this shower of idiots!
It’s only taken 6 years for the goats to calm down and not be absolute cretins towards the old sheep!
Thank you so much to those who have helped recently whilst the sanctuary is going through this particularly rough and difficult time. It’s appreciated more than I can express.
I’m lucky as I’ve recently met someone who’s very full of good ideas for fundraising so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get back on my feet with the sanctuary by the new year.
I’ve spent so long trying to do this with someone who didn’t want to do anything to help and whose heart wasn’t in it, it’s taken a toll on me. But I’m feeling more positive and motivated!
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for things they’d like to see or feel would be good in terms of supporter engagement/fundraising then please do let me know!
At the moment we’re thinking of animal sponsorships, calendars, Christmas cards, possibly some more raffles etc!
I also have the usual ways of supporting the animals, such as our wishlist, PayPal, and easyfundraising.org.uk!
At the moment we’re desperate for chicken feed so if anyone wants to donate towards a bag or purchase from the wishlist it would be hugely helpful!

Thank you all again for being so kind 🩷
It’s onward and upward for us here at the sanctuary! 🌟

I’m not sure why life has to always kick me down just as I’m trying to get back up, but it’s all becoming rather relentless.
Today I had to say goodbye to my beautiful little Hansel. At only 3 years old he should of had a full life ahead of him, but as with a lot of rescue animals, the neglect he suffered in his first weeks of life have always had a lasting impact on his overall health.
Two weeks ago he was a happy bouncy ball of energy, but today his body had finally had enough and needed to rest. Hansel succumbed to gut damage, having previously suffered a horrendous parasite burden when he was very very young, his gut was always compromised and eventually it caught up with him.
I’ve dealt with gut damage in countless animals when I was working in veterinary and I knew in my heart that at this level of severity it is very rare for animals to pull through.
I don’t really know how I am going to move forward without my little guy there giving me kissies daily, but I will because I have the others who still need me. Gretel, Hansels sister, and all the animals who rely on me day in and day out are what keep me putting one foot in front of the other no matter how badly I want to just lay down and give up.
Maybe one day life will give me a break, but somehow I feel like this is the path I will be on my whole life; love and loss, grief and healing, but as long as my animals are happy and healthy then I will gladly keep taking on the pain because although it is a hard price to pay, it’s so worth it to be able to have them in my life.
I’ll never hide my heart and soul from the grief and agony of losing them, because that’s the only way I can share this life with them. They will always be my world.

Update—
Sorry for the long period of inactivity!
I’ve been working on myself and still trying to get back on my feet, and my mind hasn’t been too kind to me lately.
I’ve got to be honest, things still aren’t good. Money wise I have only managed to cover the essential bills for the last few months because you guys have been so kind.
I really don’t know how I’m going to keep going month to month at the moment.
I don’t want to keep sponging money off of you wonderful people, but I simply don’t have enough to keep the sanctuary open without donations.
I’m going to try figure some ideas for fundraising that will give back a bit to you guys, such as starting raffles again or maybe sponsoring an animal etc.
I don’t know if or how I’ll figure this out but I do know that me and the animals would be in a lot of trouble if we didn’t have such amazing and generous supporters.
This month I’m going to be around £250 short to cover the bills, so if anyone is able to spare a few £ it honestly means the world to me and the animals. PayPal.me/SameStarSheep

I’m so sorry to keep asking, I just really don’t know how I’m going to get us out of this situation at the moment. But I will try to find some way to give back. Ending up being left alone to pay for all the animals was never on my bingo card for this year and I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone who has and continues to help 🩷

Is anyone interested in a raffle? £2.50 a name kind of thing?
I hate to keep begging for donations but my current situation is that I am £80 over drawn until end of next week, which I need to be able to pay today… I’ve never been in such a bad financial situation and the fact that this has been done to me has made it feel 100 times worse.
I really am struggling to see a way out of this mess right now.

Me- Worrying about if I’m feeding the sheep enough as we’re on such limited income
The sheep- Chunky yet funky 🖤

In all seriousness feeding the animals is my biggest concern at the moment, but I’m managing to make it work by changing what I’m feeding them and restricting it a bit, and of course you amazing followers for sending donations has kept us afloat!
I hope that I can give back in some way in the future 💙
A bag of feed is between £10-£15, and a small hay bale is £6-£8 pounds, large bales are anywhere from £50-£80… if anyone wants to donate a bag of feed or a hay bale it does make such a huge difference 🙏
