Teddie’s owner has been stocking up on diabetes-friendly treats at Pets at Home since his diagnosis at the end of last year.

Nine-year-old Teddie was diagnosed with diabetes after owner Maddie noticed he was drinking more and losing weight. To help keep him happy and healthy, they have made some changes at home, including choosing healthy treat options from Pet at Home.

Maddie, who shops at Pets at Home Sittingbourne, said: “Teddie now eats twice a day, around 12 hours apart, and has insulin after each meal. He also has a sensor so we can check his glucose levels throughout the day. He has to limit treats so we're always on the lookout for healthy options he can enjoy; we check the ingredients to make sure they’re high in protein and fibre, low in fat and sugar, and made up of slow-release complex carbs. It’s still very much a learning journey for us all but luckily Pets at Home have plenty of options."

Say hello to Dylan who is 21 years old and officially a centenarian in animal years.

Dylan was adopted by Tracie from a local rescue when he was sprightly seven-year-old cat. After saying goodbye to her previous cat the year before, Tracie found the house too quiet, that’s until Dylan arrived and quickly became best friends with her son and a huge part of family life.

Tracie, who is a member of Pets Club, said, “Dylan is a very chilled old man. He has a heated bed in my bedroom, which he demands is put on an hour before I go to bed. Now he’s older, I groom him more often as he’s a bit stiff and can’t reach certain bits. I also clip his claws regularly as they seem to grow extra quick these days. I love him to bits!”

Bailey only has to hear “Do you want to go to Pets at Home?” and he’s instantly excited.

Two-year-old Bailey has been a regular visitor to Pets at Home Solihull since he was just four months old, and it’s safe to say he’s become a firm favourite.

Owner Louise said, “Bailey is actually my mum’s dog, and we all go to Pets at Home together when I visit. A lot of the colleagues recognise him now and have a lot of time for him; they are so kind. In this picture, my mum was looking for a new lead and harness, so she asked Sarah to help try one on for size. Bailey was very happy to do this and even happier to cuddle up to her! Sarah is absolutely incredible with Bailey, and he loves seeing her there."

New puppy Moose is all set for his first walk on Halloween in his pumpkin hat from Pets at Home.

Owners Mariola and Tyler popped into their local Pets at Home in Trafford Park to pick up some puppy essentials and introduce Moose to a new environment and friendly faces. They couldn’t resist grabbing him a Halloween outfit just in time for his first walk.

Mariola said, “After we picked up Moose to bring him to his forever home, a stop at Pets at Home was a must for some last-minute essentials and to meet some new people. We saw the pumpkin hat and couldn’t resist, especially since his first walk after all his vaccinations will be on Halloween. He’s settling in really well. He’s got an endless supply of toys to snuggle up to, but he always chooses my furry slippers.”

Wolfy has won a box full of Pets at Home goodies as our Golden Pet of the Month! Read on to find out how your senior pet could be in with a chance to win too. 👇

Seven-year-old Wolfy earned the title after owner Heidi entered our Golden Pet of the Month competition via an email we sent at the start of his birthday month. If your cat or dog is over seven and has a birthday coming up, they could win a goody bag and be crowned our next Golden Pet of the Month too! Just keep an eye out for an email from us with a competition link when their birthday month begins.

Heidi told us that Wolfy’s favourite place is the greenhouse. “Wolfy loves the outdoors and sprints over to me when I’m gardening, he’s my little furry garden hand! On his birthday, he curled up on top of a bucket of soil in our greenhouse - he loves that he can see everything going on from his bucket.”

Six-month-old Stan is getting into the autumn spirit, playing in the leaves in his adorable woodland coat from Pets at Home.

Stan loves nothing more than a good play, so it was no surprise that on his first autumnal walk, he dove straight into the leaves. Owner Chelsea, who shops at Pets at Home Corby, said, "On his first autumn walk, he was obsessed with the leaves. He was rolling in them and throwing them around. He’s not so keen on the rain, so I decided to get him a little coat. When I saw that one, I just couldn’t resist!"

Owner Rachel wants to thank Vets4Pets Pudsey and Pets at Home Bradford Idle for their incredible support after she became carer to a four-week-old abandoned kitten.

Tiny Robyn was being fed cow’s milk by a well-meaning good Samaritan before coming into Rachel’s care. As an experienced cat owner, Rachel knew this wasn’t suitable and rushed Robyn to Vets4Pets Pudsey, where her system was safely cleared. Robyn is now eating well and gaining weight, thanks to advice from Abbey at Pets at Home Bradford Idle on the right kitten diet.

Rachel, a nurse, said: “I’m so grateful for the care Robyn received at the vets and the advice from Abbey at Pets at Home. I never knew I could love something so little so much — she’s filled a hole in my heart."

Aimee, RVN and Joint Venture Partner at Vets for Pets Pudsey, shared advice: “If you find a stray kitten, bring them to a vet straight away. If that’s not possible, keep them warm and use proper kitten formula. Sadly, rescue centres are overwhelmed this time of year which is why it’s so important to have female cats spayed.”

Happy go out in a coat and regret it on the way home season. 🌦️

Or, you don't take a coat and then immediately regret it when it starts to rain. 😆

Meet Bruno, one of the senior dogs at the Oldies Club who has been helped by a grant from the Pets Foundation

The Oldies Club specialises in rescuing and rehoming older dogs, aged seven plus. Twelve-year-old Bruno arrived at the rescue after his owner sadly became homeless and had to make the heartbreaking decision to give him up. With love and care in foster, Bruno blossomed, regaining strength in his legs and feeling much better after dental treatment, which was made possible by the Pets Foundation grant.

Bruno has since been adopted, and his new owners shared, “We cannot imagine our family without Bruno! Everyone who meets him says they cannot believe he is 12 years old and say how lucky we are to have found him. We do feel so lucky and grateful to the Oldies Club for connecting us with Bruno, our family’s favourite member.”
