🎶🎶Everyday I’m snuffling 🎶🎶
Oscar busy with his snuffle rug. To use this we hide treats in the fabric and they have to find the food. This keeps them busy and tires their mind without putting too much pressure in their joints, like a long walk would do. If your pet is arthritic in the front legs then raise the snuffle rug on a stool.
This rug is from KimsFancyBits however other rugs are available.

Oscar here would like to know when you last checked your dogs paws?

Here are some key things to look for:
1. Nail length - if the nails touch the floor or start to turn then consider a nail clip. Long nails affect a dogs posture and paw placement. A veterinary nurse can do this at your vet practice.

2. Pad health - are the pads cracked or changing. A soft squishy pad means better shock absorption and a more comfortable gait. Check out some paw balms online if you think they’re dry.

3. Furry toes - if there is too much hair in-between the pads it can affect traction on laminate floors and your dog will be slipping more, causing more discomfort on the joints.

4. Bony changes - has the paw started to change shape. This can be a sign of bony changes in the paw structure which can be uncomfortable and due to many things.

If in doubt we can have a little look in your next hydro session and guide you on ways to help

The rather dashing Dennis has been attending hydrotherapy on our underwater treadmill to help with his elbow condition. Dennis has been progressing so well that he is now in our pool and performing laps and figures of eights to further strengthen his front legs.
Dennis is such a character, always arrives full of beans and has absolutely loved his transition into the pool. Go Dennis! ❤️

Roger here is a lovely gentleman who has recently started hydro after knee surgery. He has come from the The Cinnamon Trust, which is a brilliant charity, and is now living a lovely life in a new home.
Check them out to see ways you might be able to help different dogs from dog walking, foster care or even adoption.

Roger started off a little nervous in the water but has managed to fight his fears and progress well with his sessions. He is reaching out nicely when walking and his back leg has already shown improvement even in these early weeks of rehab.

Cheeky boy, Bob, had cruciate surgery a couple of months ago and has started his journey into hydrotherapy on our underwater treadmill.
Bob has absolutely no fear of water and will happily wander around the treadmill during his rest breaks. 💦
The hydrotherapy will help to strengthen and build muscle to support the newly operated joint, as well as building Bob's confidence to load his leg. What a cutie 💙
