Firstly I must apologise for the lack of updates, but as I run the charity alongside other full time work (I have a pet care business), the summer was particularly busy in addition to the day to day care and numerous vet visits for our ‘extra special’ piggies!
Over the next few weeks I’ll be updating you on all the happenings here, many good, but also some sad news too!
Anyway, Berry and her little friend Orla arrived at TEAS at the end of August. She was unable to eat and despite her owners trying desperately to get her the help that she needed, she was deteriorating!
She saw Simon as soon as he returned from holiday and started to eat after her first dental. She needed regular dental tidy ups, but a few weeks ago she suddenly looked very sad and was clearly in pain and her left eye started to
bulge! She was immediately given a strong antibiotic and Viscotear drops were applied regularly into the eye, to stop it drying out, and strong pain relief was administered. She soon looked much better and we were hopeful we could save her eye! Then, a few days ago, a further swelling appeared between her eye and her ear! She was admitted for surgery yesterday and Orla went along to, for support! The abscess was marsupialised. The pus was drained and the abscess has been stitched open for regular flushing. Berry is bright and eating well and I’ve dusted off my ‘Abscess Queen’ crown! 🤣 I do love dealing with an abscess! Yes, I know I need to get out more!
I’ll keep you posted with Berry’s progress!
