๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’– Did you know our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) provide post-op checks to help your pet recover after surgery?

Our nurse clinics play an essential role in ensuring that your pet's healing process is smooth and comfortable. One key service we offer is Post-Op Checks, usually scheduled 2 and 10 days after surgery (unless otherwise specified). These checks ensure that your pet is recovering well and help identify any potential issues early on. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

During the check, our RVNs will...
โœ… Examine the incision for signs of infection or discomfort
โœ… Check your pet's temperature and general well-being
โœ… Offer advice on diet, exercise, and medication.

If everything's going well, we'll guide you on how to keep your pet on track as they recover. If there's any concern, we'll consult with the vet to ensure the best care possible. ๐Ÿฉบ

After your pet has been discharged, a post-op check-up can be scheduled. If you have any questions, please let us know.

๐ŸŒท As spring cleaning kicks into full gear, it's important to remember that while you're tidying up, your pets might be curious about what's going on around the house. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

Inquisitive dogs and curious cats can easily get into household items that could be harmful. Let's ensure your spring-cleaning efforts keep your home safe for everyone!

Here's a list of common household items to watch out for when cleaning around pets:

๐Ÿ”ธ Household cleaning products: Bleach, oven cleaners, laundry detergents, drain cleaners, floor cleaners, and toilet cleaners can be toxic to pets if ingested or inhaled. Always read labels, ventilate areas well, and store products securely and out of reach.

๐Ÿ”ธ Toys with small parts: Small parts can be a choking hazard. Choose sturdy, durable toys and inspect them regularly for damage.

๐Ÿ”ธ Plastic Bags: Can suffocate or choke pets if ingested or tangled. Keep them stored safely away from pets.

๐Ÿ”ธ Toxic plants: Some spring flowers, like lilies, daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths, can be toxic to pets. Be mindful of these plants, especially around cats.

Pet Protection = Happy Homes ๐Ÿก๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

When your pet is protected with the right vaccinations, it's not just about their health โ€“ it's about creating a safe and happy environment for everyone at home! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’– A healthy pet means fewer worries and more tail wags, purrs, and unconditional love, giving you the peace of mind that you're doing everything you can to keep them safe.

Vaccines protect more than just your pet - they protect your family and community, too! ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Certain infectious diseases, like leptospirosis in dogs and rabies in both dogs and cats, can be passed to humans. These zoonotic diseases can cause severe illness or even be life-threatening. By vaccinating your pets, you're not only keeping them safe, but you're also protecting everyone around you.

Let's keep our pets safe, our families healthy, and our homes full of joy and love! ๐Ÿฉบโœจ

We all appreciate the importance of maintaining our pearly whites, and our pets need us to support them with this, too! Like human dentistry, pet dental examinations and treatment are about prevention and education, so youโ€™ll be pleased to know that our veterinary nurses are on hand to support you!

๐Ÿฆท Our veterinary nurses play a vital role in educating, advising and recommending preventative dental care, from how best to brush your petโ€™s teeth thoroughly all the way through to advising on a referral with one of our veterinary surgeons if required. Behind the scenes, Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) can also carry out dental scale and polishes while patients are under general anaesthesia.

๐Ÿง๐ŸงDID YOU KNOW?๐Ÿง๐Ÿง
Did you know we offer laparoscopic surgery, including spays, cryptorchid castrates and abdominal organ biopsies?
Laparoscopy, also known as keyhole surgery, is a type of surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to access the inside of the abdomen and pelvis without having to make large incisions in the skin
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique to explore the abdomen with two to three small โ€˜keyholeโ€™ incisions. A camera is introduced as well as fine instruments allowing a range of procedures to be performed.
Laparoscopic surgery is much less invasive and therefore less painful, making recovery times considerably quicker. Laparoscopic spays can offer up to 65% less post-operative pain than a traditional spay. The technique also allows for other keyhole procedures such as biopsies and exploratory surgery.
Why choose Laparoscopic neutering?
There is a reduction in the amount of pain after the keyhole spaying operation.
The surgical wounds are much smaller with keyhole surgery: 0.5 to 1 cm compared to 6 to 15 cm which mean your dog is likely to have a speedier recovery.
Your pet will return to their normal level of exercise sooner. - Normally they must rest for 10 days, but after laparoscopic surgery only 5 days rest is required on average.
There is a a significantly reduced risk of complications.
Bleeding from the surgical site is less due to the surgeon having much better visualisation of the ovaries and using advanced equipment to seal the vessels.
If you're interested in a laparoscopic procedure for your pet, please contact us at either branch:
Kettering Road - via the Kinship App or email to [email protected] or call us on 01604 648221
Wootton Fields - via the Kinship App or email to [email protected] or call us on 01604 700366.

Is your senior pet up-to-date on their vaccinations? ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’‰

As pets age, their immune systems can weaken, making them more vulnerable to serious diseases. Regular vaccinations are essential to keep them protected!

When vaccinated, your petโ€™s immune system creates antibodies, which protect them from diseases if theyโ€™re exposed later on.

Hereโ€™s why you shouldnโ€™t skip those vaccines...

๐Ÿ’‰ Prevent serious illnesses โ€“ Senior pets are more susceptible to severe diseases. Vaccines help protect them.

๐Ÿ• Keep them active and happy โ€“ Healthy pets are happy pets! Vaccines help them stay active and enjoy their golden years.

๐Ÿ’ช Protect others โ€“ Vaccinating your pet helps prevent the spread of illness to other animals.

Have you got any questions? Reach out to our team today! Letโ€™s keep your senior pet safe and thriving! ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ
