Sky was 27.

She was mum to Elvana, seven, and Albie, three. Just weeks after Albie was born, she was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. She was 24.

When her story first reached us, we couldn’t shake it. She’d had surgery and every treatment the NHS could offer, and when that stopped working there was one avenue left — a new course of treatment that could have bought her real time, if it could be funded. So we launched this raffle to help her reach it.

She fought with a courage that humbled everyone who followed her. This month, surrounded by the people she loved, Sky passed away.

What she wanted most was more time with her children. That was taken far too soon.

What we can still do is carry a little of the weight for the two little ones she left behind.

🥶 For three minutes, you can be colder than anywhere on Earth has ever been 🥶

The lowest natural temperature ever recorded on this planet was −89.2°C, at a lonely Russian research station in Antarctica in 1983. It is a number so cold it feels made up. The Cryo Q ONE runs colder — a true −110°C — and it does it in a chamber in your gym, on a Tuesday, for about three minutes.

Your body, sensibly, treats this as an emergency. Blood retreats to protect your core, then floods back the moment you step out — a vascular flush associated with faster recovery and less soreness. Falling asleep is a temperature event. Your core has to *drop*, and a 26°C bedroom jams the signal. Worse: during REM your body switches off its own thermostat so no sweating, no shivering. So your brain quietly cancels the dreaming rather than let you cook. Hot nights already cost you ~44 hours of sleep a year. 🌡️

The fix sounds mad: a **hot** shower. 10 mins at 40°C, 90 mins before bed. You turn yourself into a radiator, dump heat through your palms and soles, and fall asleep ~36% faster.

And a cold shower ≠ a cold plunge. Full immersion drags your core down and keeps it falling afterwards — the *afterdrop*. Measured result: more deep sleep, fewer wake-ups. If you plunge at night and sleep like the dead, you’re not imagining it.

We just kept rediscovering it 🙌

Roughly three and a half thousand years ago, an Egyptian scribe pressed reed to papyrus and wrote down what may be the first painkiller in human history: cold. Not a herb, not a prayer, just cold, laid on a wound to take the swelling down. He didn’t know what inflammation was. He simply knew the cold worked, which, when you think about it, is exactly what you know at 6am with one foot over the edge of the tub.

The story only gets stranger from there. In 23 BC, a Roman physician named Antonius Musa watched the Emperor Augustus slide toward death while every fashionable hot treatment failed and made the gloriously reckless decision to do the opposite. Cold baths. Cold compresses. The emperor lived, and a grateful Rome handed Musa a fortune, a gold ring, a statue beside the god of medicine himself, and, this is the part that should be taught in every school, tax exemption for every doctor in the empire! One cold bath. Somewhere, an accountant fainted.

Then a teenage farmer with crushed ribs the doctors had given up on. A Japanese lab chilling the air to minus 110°C — colder than any winter this planet has ever recorded. A Dutchman climbing past 7,000 metres up Everest in nothing but a pair of shorts. Different centuries, same stubborn instinct: when the body needs resetting, reach for the cold.

Not all “hyperbaric” chambers are equal. The gap is bigger than you think.

Every clinical HBOT study you’ve ever seen quoted: the wound healing, the recovery, the tissue repair, was built on one protocol: 2.0 ATA, high-concentration oxygen, sealed delivery.
A soft-shell chamber tops out at 1.3 ATA, breathing air through a nasal pipe or an open mask that pulls in half the room with every breath.

That’s not a lighter version of the same therapy. It’s a different one borrowing the research of the real thing.

Here’s why it matters, in one number nobody shows you 👇

The entire point of hyperbaric therapy is forcing oxygen dissolved directly into your blood plasma, where it reaches tissue that red blood cells can’t.

🔹 Breathing normally: ~0.3 mL/dL
🔹 Soft shell, 1.3 ATA with a mask: ~0.9 mL/dL — measurable, but small.
