🩺We recently had our practice standards (PSS) assessment from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) for our accreditation status of General Practice for our practice in Northam and Core Standards for our practice in East the Water.

🩺We are pleased to report we have passed with flying colours.

🩺The RCVS PSS is a voluntary accreditation programme that sets benchmarks for excellence in animal care. It ensures participating UK practices exceed basic legal requirements in hygiene, staff training, and clinical governance.

🩺The assessments are independent and practices are rigorously inspected every four years, with periodic spot checks, to ensure compliance.

🩺Levels of accreditation depends on services offered, species treated, and facilities, practices can be awarded one of three main accreditation tiers.
🩺Core Standards meets foundational legal, health and safety, and hygiene requirements.
General Practice (GP) fulfills core standards plus additional requirements for facilities, equipment, and staff qualifications.

🩺Our assessor added "Thankyou to the whole team for being helpful and welcoming on the day. The practice is busy but has a lovely atmosphere."

‼️Warning Graphic Image ‼️

We recently had a very rare ophthalmology case come in recently which is a corneal ulcer caused by a tick! 👀

Luckily Daisy is on our Medivet Healthcare Plan and regular takes Flea and Wormer, so the tick was dead when Daisy came in to see Vet Gareth 🐕

After some sedation, Gareth was able to remove the whole tick, Daisy went home with some antibiotic eye drops and less than a week later Daisy was as good as new! ❤️🩺

If you'd like to book your pet in with one of our ophthalmologists give us a ring on 422 657 or 473 278 📞

We have some amazing news !!! ❤️

After almost 17 weeks Molee has been found 🐈

A few days ago a gentleman called Northam to say he thought that he had seen Molee hanging around his garden near Limers Lane. Our receptionist Ashley asked him to send in a video and it was Molee!🐈🩺

Our RVN Bridie went out after the video was sent in and set a humane trap and at 4am this morning he was caught 🩺

After a thorough check over from the vets Molee has got the all clear to go home after his big adventure! ❤️

This is an important reminder why it's so important to have your pets microchipped 🐈❤️

Today we sponsored a class at Stevenstone & Torrington Farmers Pony Club The Big Horse Show.
What a great day. There were so many fantastic competitors with their horses and ponies. Thank you to all the organisers and well done to everyone taking part❤️👏

We’ve recently been alerted to a potential scam targeting pet owners 🐈🐕🐢

Some clients are receiving emails from a fake company called “Track a Pet”, these emails appear very convincing as they can contain:
🐈Your personal details i.e. phone number
🐕Your pet's information i.e. microchip number

The email claims that the pet's microchip is going to be unregistered, and they need to follow the link to update and renew their details 🩺

‼️What's IMPORTANT to remember is that microchips don’t expire, and you shouldn’t need to pay to ‘keep them active’. If you’re unsure, please check with us before taking any action. ‼️

If you receive an email like this and would like to discuss it with us, please call us on (01237) 422 657 or 473278 📞

It's getting to that time of year where there are lots of gull chick being hatched! 🐣

We have already had a couple handed in, but we thought we would give you a few tips on what to do if you find a gull chick! 🐤

❤️ If you find a hatchling:
Where possible please place it back in the original nest, do not give them any food or water.
If you can't find the original nest, then please call a wildlife rescue service or your nearest vets

❤️ If you find a nestling:
Where possible place back on the roof it came from, if this is not possible placing it on the nearest flat roof near the nest so that the parent scan still take care of it.
If they have been injured in the fall in any way, then call a wildlife rescue or your nearest vets

❤️ If you find a Fledgeling:
Unless injured or in any danger should be left alone. The parents will continue to care for it.
If injured, please call a wildlife rescue or your nearest vets

If you find a gull and are unsure give us a ring on 422 657 or 473 278 📞

Vet Gareth has recently taken a new mode of travel! 🚲🩺

It’s a Penny Farthing! Gareth has previously mastered the skill of a unicycle however we think this is much cooler 🚲✨

We don’t think he’ll be taking the penny farthing to any emergencies though we will leave that to our animal ambulance 🚑❤️
