⚠️ Possible Parvo Cases – Please Stay Alert ⚠️
There’s been a post circulating locally suggesting that canine parvovirus may be present in the area. I haven’t been able to independently verify this, but it’s something worth being aware of—especially for puppies and unvaccinated dogs.
What is parvo?
A highly contagious virus that affects the gut and immune system. It can spread through contact with infected dogs, faeces, or contaminated ground/surfaces.
Signs to look out for:
• Severe lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea (often bloody and very smelly)
• Fever or low body temperature
How to reduce risk:
• Keep vaccinations up to date
• Avoid areas with lots of unknown dogs (especially for puppies)
• Don’t let dogs sniff or ingest faeces
• Wash hands/shoes after walks if concerned
If your dog shows any of the above symptoms, contact your vet immediately—early treatment can make a huge difference.
I’ll update if anything is confirmed locally, but in the meantime it’s always better to be cautious.
