✋ Does your dog do this?! Or maybe less frequently recently? 🤔

Changes in laying, rolling and sleeping can be an indicator that something is wrong. We frequently hear our clients notice:

😞 Less rolling around
😞 Tends to lay on the same side
😞 Now prefers the floor to their bed

Could you be unknowingly causing harm to your dog?! 😰 🐾

We see a lot of dogs with knee and cruciate injuries, many of whom love playing with ball THROWERS… coincidence?! 🤔

Not really… 👇

Play with ball throwers involve:
1) throwing a VERY high, VERY fast ball
2) “0-60” acceleration by your dog
3) a leap into the air to catch it 🥎
4) momentum causes the body to twist
5) immediately into to a high impact, uncontrolled landing, perhaps even on one leg!

Doing this repeatedly puts incredible strain on your dogs joints and soft tissues, causing immediate injury or micro damage. Micro-damage can accumulate undetected until one ‘bad’ landing, a slip or doing a completely unrelated activity. 😔 Leaving you with a very sore pup and a large vets bill. 💰

💡 Instead, try underarm throwing, rolling, sit/wait/release or sniffing for a ball.

This lady is currently undergoing rehab with us following surgery to her left knee.

Peaches specific plan includes:
✅ Hydrotherapy with our physios
✅ Careful joint mobilisations by our physios
✅ Completing her rehab homework with her owner
🫣 Keeping calm and controlled (?) She tries her best!

Post operative rehabilitation is crucial for a successful return to crazy zoomies and long term mobility health. 🐾

A common side effect of visiting AquaPaws Hydrotherapy ...... Happiness! Ember is rising 14 years and still has very happy legs and joints thanks to Trudie and team. A session every week/fortnight can make such a difference and can be claimed back in most insurance policies 💦❤️

A Quick Trudie Update:

“Hi everyone! A week ago, the spinal consultant signed me off which means I have officially escaped surgery and can begin moving and rehabilitation! Obviously laying flat for 9.5 weeks has taken its toll, so throughout May, I plan to dip in and out of John and Gina’s days to see how I fare up (in probably the least back friendly profession 🤣) before coming back full time. Thank you everyone for your kind messages throughout this time. I cannot wait to be back! 🐾 Trudie x”
